The Diet of the Iditarod Dog As one of the world's top endurance athletes, an Iditarod sled dog has extremely specialized dietary needs. Requiring a diet of nearly 10 times the calories of a non-working dog and huge amounts of protein and fat, the Iditarod sled dog must be carefully fueled.

Welcome!
About Us and Our Trips

With busy lives and schedules, researching and pulling a vacation together from search engines can be daunting at best. However, deciding to click on our ad may bring you just what you've been looking for: A fishing trip that's more than just a fishing trip.
We operate year round from 3 separate fishing locations, following fish and adventure. Our Alaska operation is our oldest and our Tres Pescados Fly Shop in Belize is our newest adventure. We have learned over time what anglers need and want from a successful fishing trip - the numbers don't always define success just as in hunting and other sports. Quality of the recreation is key in the sport of fishing and Alaska, Belize and Cape Cod offer more of a rounded fishing vacation than just about anywhere in the world.
Alaska is the destination most talked about and one that anglers dream of fishing before they commit to the final fishing stream of life. While Cape Cod offers an almost unheard of fishery in the USA outside of Florida: Traditional flats fishing in New England for striped bass and blues, it also offers less cost than travel to far off destinations and makes for a great fall week long trip. Belize is a place ripe for taking on a saltwater fly fishing grand slam or catching your first saltwater fish on a fly - we love to teach our techniques.
Our Alaska trips are set in remote bush locations maximizing the wilderness experience for 5 or 7 day trips, while our Cape Cod trips provide all the comforts of home in the quaint New England setting of Chatham, MA. on the elbow of Cape Cod. In Belize our fly shop offers everything you'll need for a fantastic saltwater fly fishing experience on the island of Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize. All three destinations are very different and offer very different fishing as well as other activities.

Iditarod Champion 2006 is recognized as the "Winningest Musher in the World." His victories include not only the 1,049 mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race in 1993, 1996, 1998, and 2006, but also over two dozen first place finishes in races all across Alaska. During the past 20 years, Jeff has logged more than 100,000 miles on a dog sled.
Jeff moved to Alaska in 1975 in search of adventure. He quickly became interested in dog sledding and Alaskan huskies, devoting all his spare time and money to building his own team, while developing a construction business. He began racing in 1980. His competitive nature had found a new outlet, and Jeff set his sights ever higher, entering his first Iditarod just one year later. In 1992 he decided to devote his full time and energy to training and racing, setting aside his construction business. He won his first Iditarod the following season. While on a training run in Denali National Park in 1980, Jeff's team became entangled with that of a new volunteer ranger, and thus he met his future wife.
Donna Gates came to Denali after finishing her master's degree in Medical Illustration. She and Jeff married in 1983 and began developing their homestead on Goose Lake just south of the park entrance. The King family also includes three daughters
