ANCIENT INDIAN CULTURE
MUSIC Musical instruments include the Sarangi, Sitar, Tabla, Tambora, and Tanpura. The Tambora
Since Vedic times, Indians had been required to correctly recite, the Vedas. The correctness in recitation was very important as the Vedas were, in those days, transmitted through memory (Smriti) and were learnt through hearing (Shruti). This v so, as writing was absent in early Vedic times. Even today the Vedas are traditionally learnt through oral studies. This kind of an emphasis on recitation the correct pronunciation lead to studies in phonetics and sound manipulation. This was the birthplace of Indian Musical Raga (metre) and Swaras (rhymes). That Music in ancient India was given considerable recognition is illustrated by the fact that Saraswati, the Indian goddess of learning is shown to be holding a musical instrument (Veena) in her hand. Traditionally, vocal music in India has tended to be devotional music (Bhakti-geet), and temples have been places (as they still are) where musicians used to practice music to please the deity and the devotees. Indian vocal music is broadly divided into two schools viz. the Hindustani or north Indian school and the Carnatic or South Indian school. As far as instrumental music goes there is a general identity of instruments that have been used. The main Indian musical instruments are the Sarod, the Veena, the Sarangi, the Tambora, the Harmonium, the Ghata, the Tabla, the Tanpura, the Satar, etc., As compared to art and architecture Indian music has had less impact on the outside world. This was so as most of Indian musical instruments require specialized material and craftsmanship for their manufacture. And in the absence of transmission of these skills and the absence of trade in musical instruments, Along with the necessity of long and arduous practice which was required to master these instruments, made the transmission of music a difficult task.

india culture
If India were to be considered to be a canvas board painted by an artist, then one would be mesmerized by the colors that would make this entire work of art. On one single canvas all the colors and their shades would find a place. And this is the entire India culture being colored – multi-colored. The clothes, the food types, the language and literature, the poetry, the traditions, castes, creeds, the picturesque natural zones, the urban cities, the rural villages, the original tribes… All of these are just a few of the innumerable aspects that have made the nation, as intriguing as it has been.
Traders and plunderers, alike, have turned poets writing abut their romance with India from the time they stepped foot onto its land. While India has progressed by leaps and bounds and is considered amongst the most advanced nations where technology is concerned, yet, there is something pure that has not changed here.
India culture today seems to be untainted by every aspect of progress and development. Traditional family values still seem to exist. Like they say: No matter where an Indian would live on the face of this earth, you just cannot remove the Indianess from them. Their heart will always be back home, no matter how many Dollars they are earning abroad.

India Tourism
When you’re ready for an adventure, do something more than go to your local Wal-Mart before back to school. You should really get out more, and heading to India might be a great way to enhance your life experiences, while also helping you to create some memories and some great bragging rights. But when you look at India, it can be difficult to decide where you want to start on your visit. So many cities, so many things to see, no one article could ever contain everything that you need to see.
Destinations to See in India
Yes, there are a number of things you can do in India, and even if you just wandered around the country with a map, you would have a good time – assuming you’re the adventurous type. But here are a few of the destinations most travel guides recommend for the everyday traveler:
  • Agra Bangaluru (Bangalore) Chandigarh Chennai (Madras) Dharamshala Goa Hyderabad Jaipur Jaisalmer Khajuraho Kolkata (Calcutta) Mumbai (Bombay) New Delhi Trivandrum Varanasi Ahmedabad Ajmer Alleppey Alsisar Aurangabad Badami Bangalore Belur Bharatpur Bhavnagar Bhiwadi Bhopal Bikaner Calangute Chennai Chittaurgarh Cochin Darjeeling Fatehpur Sikri Gandhinagar Ghaziabad Gokarna Gulaothi Gurgaon Gwalior Hampi Haridwar Indore Jalandhar Jhunjhunu Jodhpur Kabini Kanpur Karwar Khimsar
Okay, so you’re probably not going to see all of these cities and destinations, no matter how many rupees you have in your pockets. If you wanted to see everything, it might possibly take you a few years of extensive traveling.

The contrast between rich and poor is so obvious and you never really get used to it. On one side of the street you may see palatial apartments, while on the other side people live their lives in makeshift houses on the sidewalk.

        INDIA CULTURE
The India culture is multi-faceted to say the least, mostly due to its wide variety of religions as well as the many languages spoken. These are made even more diverse by the existence of indigenous groups and tribes that are each unique in their faith and linguistic repertoires, all of which dwell together in one land. One of the main features of Indian culture is its rigid hierarchy within the social arenas. Social classes are defined and maintained by specific hereditary groups, which are sustained by ensuring that all members marry within a specific class, ethnic group or social group. This is called endogamy. These groups are termed castes and this caste system is strictly adhered to in the vast majority of the families and societies of India. The family is headed by the patriarch (the father) and usually includes a number of generations within one household. This has not changed much in recent years, although urbanisation is resulting in more households consisting of just the parents and their children. The Indian culture does not advocate divorce and, although most marriages are arranged by the parents and other relatives, the divorce rate is far lower than in many other lands. The bride and groom have to consent to their families’ choices, and marriages are generally long term. Half of the women are married before the age of 18 years.

    India Culture
What you should know before negotiating.
    · In India, "outside" information and new concepts will be accepted only if they do not contradict prevailing religious beliefs and social structures.
    · Indians tend to think associatively, largely because the country's educational system places a heavy emphasis on rote learning. Indian business people with a higher education, however, are often more abstract, analytical thinkers.
    · In Indian business culture, perceptions of the truth tend to be guided by feelings; a strong faith in religious ideologies is also common.
    · An argument appealing to both feelings and faith will often be more convincing to an Indian than one using only objective facts and empirical evidence.
    · The caste system remains one of the most important influences in Indian society.
    · Although technically there is equality under the law, inequality between the castes is an accepted reality of Indian life.
    · Because of the strong, coherent, social structure there is little anxiety about life because one knows and accepts one's place in society and the workplace.
