http://www.indianart.ru/eng/
The styles of Indian medieval painting schools formed according to the local traditions but Iranian and Central Asian painting influenced it much. There are some European traces in it as well.
CENTRAL INDIAN PAINTING
The earliest central Indian pictures to survive were executed during the fifth or sixth centuries in the Buddhist cave-temples of Bagh at the southern end of Malwa. In style they evince the rounded elegance and delight in physical grace associated with the parallel art of Ajanta. Malwa evoked some of the most vital developments in Indian art.
GARHWAL PAINTING
Garhwal painting has never had the same prestige as that of Kangra. Its fame was local. Its style had few, if any, offshoots. Even in terms of time, its exquisite flowering was limited to a bare thirty years and was overlaid a little later by pictures more typical of Kangra than of Garhwal itself.
KANGRA PAINTING
Kangra painting one of the greatest schools of Indian art. This school had produced some of the most poetic and romantic pictures ever painted in India. It possesses flowing rhythmical line, simple unaffected naturalism, predilection for lovely feminine forms, above all, air of innocent sexuality.
MUGHAL PAINTING
Mughal painting arose through the teaching of Persian artists, but the pupils did not paint like Persians. It borrowed even more freely from Europe than from Persia, but it remained true in essence to Indian traditional ideals, which asserted themselves more and more till the foreign borrowings became little more than reminiscences.

Native American Arts and Crafts
We get a lot of mail asking us to recommend websites where people can buy authentic American Indian arts and crafts. There are many imitations of Native American artwork out there, and it can be hard to tell the wheat from the chaff. It doesn't help that most Native American artists don't have websites, whereas every marketer of Chinese-made dreamcatcher knockoffs has at least twenty different URLs trying to sell their stuff.
So if you're looking for arts and crafts that were actually made by Native Americans, either because it's important to you to have the real thing or because you want to support native people with your purchase, here is our directory of American Indian artists whose work is available online. If you have a website of Native American art (traditional, contemporary, or mixed) to add to this list, let us know . We gladly advertise any individual native artist or native-owned art store here free of charge, provided that all arts and crafts were made by tribally recognized American Indian, Inuit, or First Nations artists.
Thank you for your interest in American Indian art!

Indian art
With a 5000-year-old culture, Indian Art is rich in its tapestry of ancient heritage, medieval times, Mughal rule, British rule, Progressive art and now contemporary art. The earliest recorded art of India originated from a religious Hindu background, which was later replaced by a soaring popular Buddhist art. Moreover, from a timeless era art in India has been inspired by spiritualism and mystical relationship between man and god. Art in India had survived in its homeland and spread from time to time all over the world. This was possible because many kings who recognized budding talent patronized art and themselves were great connoisseurs. Each king has left a deep impression of his affinity to the artist community. Until today, art is patronized by the rich and famous in the country.
Purpose of Art
Indian artists
relied heavily on religious scriptures to draw inspiration. Since there was no restriction, they flourished under the patronage of rulers. Their art has survived the ravages of time and have a unique place in historical records. Water colors, charcoal, vegetable dyes were popular methods of painting. Fabric painting was extensive and Indian designers still adapt ancient patterns to modern fabrics. The purpose of art in ancient India was not just to adorn the walls. Each painting had a story to narrate. Visually ancient Indian art was colorful, aesthetic and appealing to naked eye. Mostly kings used to commission the artists to paint from inspiration.

The word Kampa actually means disheveled in Peru and is considered offensive. They almost reached extinction during the Rubber era/ Their land was demarcated in 1985. They have lived ever since in "preferred isolation". A large population of Ashaninka live in Peru. The garments worn by the Kampa are called "Kushma" and are woven on a back strap loom in natural hand-spun cotton. The Kushma is typical to Peru and the high jungle area. The feather work on the shoulders is used exclusively by males and signifies their prowess as hunters. The red color used on their skin and cloth is one of three variety of "Urucum" and is painted on as a daily practice. As the Kampa "migrated" down into Brazil, they brought many Peruvian traditions. One was the Peruvian pan flute that dates back to 500 B.C. The same nine note musical scale is used as well in Oceania today.
