    Edwards Trumpets
Edwards Instrument Co. began building trumpets in 1994. Andrew Naumann joined the Edwards design team in 1998 and established the first generation of Edwards Trumpets. These instruments were offered in B flat as well as C. The Generation I trumpets were constructed as an interchangeable instrument. Since 1998, improvements in design led to the introduction of the Generation II models. These trumpets offer an integral leadpipe design as well as one-piece hand hammered bells. The integral leadpipe design offers a more efficient way of changing leadpipes and creates a perfect alignment from the end of the leadpipe to the beginning of the tuning slide tube. This alignment is critical because it allows a smoother transition of air flow which creates improved intonation and stability when playing the instrument. One-piece hand hammered bells offer the player the highest quality of sound in the industry. All Edwards bells are made at our factory by a small team of expert craftsmen. In the Fall of 2000, Edwards introduced the Generation X Bb and C trumpets. These instruments were designed to create an extremely stable, rich tone. The Generation X models still offer all the flexibility of the Generation II Models. There are a variety of bells, leadpipes and two bore sizes to choose from. All Generation X Models come standard in 24K gold plating.

    Percussion instrument
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search "Percussion" redirects here. For other uses, see Percussion (disambiguation) A percussion instrument is any object which produces a sound when hit with an implement, shaken, rubbed, scraped, or by any other action which sets the object into vibration. The term usually applies to an object used in a rhythmic context or with musical intent. The word "percussion" has evolved from Latin terms: "percussio" (which translates as "to beat, strike" in the musical sense, rather than the violent action), and "percussus" (which is a noun meaning "a beating"). As a noun in contemporary English it is described in Wiktionary as "the collision of two bodies to produce a sound". The usage of the term is not unique to music but has application in medicine and weaponry, as in percussion cap , but all known and common uses of the word, "percussion", appear to share a similar lineage beginning with the original Latin: "percussus". In a musical context then, the term "percussion instruments" may have been coined originally to describe a family of instruments including drums, rattles, metal plates, or wooden blocks which musicians would beat or strike (as in a collision) to produce sound. 90. Tapia's Gold - Instruments Of The Renaissance
s of instruments used for dance music during the Renaissance, illustrated with period drawings.......
    http://www.tapiasgold.com/instruments.html
    The instruments of Renaissance music
Instrumental music already had a long history, and in some cultures was at least as important as vocal music, but popular instrumental music especially suffered from being regarded as "pagan". Inasmuch as many folk tunes likely predate the spread of Christianity, this was not an unreasonable view. During the Middle Ages, instrumental music was most often an accompaniment: it accompanied voice, it accompanied dance, it accompanied ceremony, and it accompanied war. Only toward the end of the Renaissance did instrumental music "for its own sake" become common, and even the people of that era might have been astonished at the crowds attending concerts in the age of Beethoven or even Mozart. Music in the early Middle Ages was largely monophonic. When several instruments played together, they probably took turns, or else played in unison or in octaves. As polyphony developed, so did the idea of a musical ensemble: instruments chosen because they blended well. Especially among the wind instruments, there were two types of ensembles, loud ( haut ) and soft ( bas ), the French terms referring to the volume, rather than the pitch as they do today. The basic loud instrument was the shawm (even today, people characterize them as loud), and the group also included dulcians, sackbuts, tabor pipes, and trumpets. Loud instruments were seldom played indoors except in large halls. Soft instruments, such as recorders, crumhorns, and racketts, were ordinarily played indoors. Cornettos, flutes, and serpents could play with either loud or soft ensembles.

    Musical instrument
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search A musical instrument is a device or mechanism that can be used to create musical sounds. In principle, anything that produces sound can serve as a musical instrument. The history of musical instruments dates back to the beginnings of human culture. The academic study of musical instruments is called organology The date and origin of the first device of disputed status as a musical instrument dates back as far as 67,000 years old; artifacts commonly accepted to be early flutes date back as far as about 37,000 years old. However, most historians believe determining a specific time of musical instrument invention to be impossible due to the subjectivity of the definition. Musical instruments developed independently in many populated regions of the world. However, contact among civilizations resulted in the rapid spread and adaptation of most instruments in places far from their origin. By the Middle Ages , instruments from Mesopotamia could be found in the Malay Archipelago and Europeans were playing instruments from North Africa. Development in the Americas occurred at a slower pace, but cultures of North, Central, and South America shared musical instruments.

    Fiddle
The fiddle is the mainstay of most Scottish and Irish music. The instrument is exactly the same as a violin; fiddle is simply the term used in traditional music. Despite it's popularity, there's not much information on the net about fiddles or fiddling.
    Flute
Flutes of one sort or another have been played in the celtic countries for over a thousand years. The kind in use today is mainly the 'simple-system' flute with six holes and up to eight keys. This became popular in Ireland during the nineteenth century, when classical musicians were abandoning them for the new Boehm-system flute. Modern traditional flutes are usually copies of these early instruments, and almost always made of wood. Their cylindrical bore and wooden construction give a hollow, airy tone, softer than the classical flutes and much smoother than the tin whistle.
