HOW TO CONTACT US Wellmark Foundation Grants Support Digital Recording of Health Materials The Recording Unit is proud to announce that the Library has received not one, but two, grants from the Wellmark Foundation to support the transition to digital recording. A “mini-grant”, received in 2005, was used to outfit the Library’s recording studio with state-of-the-art equipment. The second grant, awarded in August 2006, has allowed the Library to upgrade the in-home volunteer narration program. Korg digital recorders, Rode microphones, mic stands, and headphones are now available for all of our current volunteers, with some extras for future expansion. Tim West, Digital Recording Specialist, is delivering the equipment and training the narrators in its use. Volunteers who are using the Korgs are amazed at the high quality of sound and the ease of editing. In return for receiving the grants, the Library’s commitment to the Wellmark Foundation involves producing health and wellness materials in audio format for the use of our patrons. Eleven books, guides, and brochure packets on diabetes have been recorded in the studio and are available for borrowing. Several new magazines will be added to the cassette list, including | |
