Israel : History
On May 14, 1948, in the city of Tel Aviv, David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel. The introductory paragraph affirmed that "Eretz Ysrael-the Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here they first attained statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance, and gave the world the eternal Book of Books." The issuance of the proclamation was signaled by the ritual blowing of the shofar and was followed by the recitation of the biblical verse (Lev. 25:10): "Proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all the inhabitants thereof." The same verse is inscribed on the American Liberty Bell in freedom Hall in Philadelphia. Following Likud's victory in the 1981 elections, Begin and his new minister of defense, Ariel Sharon, pursued a harder line toward the Arabs in the territories. After numerous attempts to quell the rising tide of Palestinian nationalism failed, Begin, on the advice of Sharon and Chief of Staff General Raphael Eitan, decided to destroy the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) major base of operations in Lebanon. On June 6, 1982, Israeli troops crossed the border into Lebanon initiating Operation Peace for Galilee. This was the first war in Israel's history that deficiencyed wide public support. Israel History Notes
The Jewish people began making aliyah to the land, unfortunately, called Palestine, in 1882. Although, there have always been Jewish people living in the land; even after the destruction of the Temple in 70 C.E. Not only did they emigrate for peace, but to escape persecution from the nations they lived in.
The Islamic and/or Arab run nations wanted to keep the Palestinian Arabs as refugees; rather than accepting them into their own population. The refugee view was a plot to gain world empathy and sympathy; this is one major tactic to try to get rid of the State of Israel.
Israel welcomed the Arabic community of Palestine to become citizens, after Israel became a nation in 1948.
Israel welcomed their own who sought refuge from all over the world.
The British gained control of Palestine after WWI, and proposed to partition both lands; one (west) side for a future Jewish homeland and the other (east) side for an Arabic nation. In 1921, the land was partitioned at the Jordan River. The land east of the Jordan River would be an Arabic homeland, and the land west of the Jordan River would be a Jewish homeland. In 1928, Transjordan gained their independence; Jordan became a kingdom in 1946.
It seems that the UN forgot about this partition and decided to partition the land even more, in 1947. In 1948, Israel became independent under the UN partition plan, but gained more land after being attacked by the unsatisfied Arabic nations. Israel gained control of all the land, west of the Jordan, after the Six-Day War, in 1967.

King Herod is featured in the National Geographic While standing in line at the grocery store, my eyes caught a glimpse of something that looked very familiar. I picked it up, it was the December issue of the national geographic featuring King Herod (Hordus) as the Holy Land’s Visionary Builder, with a beautiful spectacular image of the Herodium, Masada . Of course I bought the issue. The author describes King Herod as “one of the most imaginative and energetic builders of the ancient world”, a king that is remembered for his cruelty as much as his ingenuity. The author is doing a great job mixing historical facts and artifacts together with some contemporary Israeli smells and flavors of his own experience.
As a bonus, the issue includes a folded poster with an exploded view of the old city of Jerusalem form the days of King Salomon till today, with section drawings of the Temple, Dome of the Rock and more.

Lieberman and Livni Join Forces to Change Government System Israel Beitainu and the Kadima Party are collaborating to promote a governmental revolution. Both parties have agreed to formulate an initiative that will strengthen the position of Prime Minister and increase government stability. Earlier this week, Foreign Minister and Chairman of Israel Beitainu Party, Avigdor Lieberman, met with the Chairman of Kadima Council, Haim Ramon, who was sent on behalf of Party Chairman Tzipi Livni. The goal is to create an electoral reform bill in the current term of the Knesset and recruit a majority of 61 MK to vote in favor of it. Lieberman, Livni, and Ramon intend to work with the members of the Labor Party (13 seats) and the Likud to enlist their support of this initiative. If they succeed, the target of 61 Knesset members is possible. To review the complete article, please click here:

You are here: History History of Ancient Israel History of Ancient Israel - Today can Last Forever
History is marked with days which, for good reason or bad, are worth remembering; this includes the history of Ancient Israel. Ancient Israel has helped shape the tomorrows of our world since its formation by the voice of God.
When we awake in the morning, the world today takes on a whole new look and meaning. The only way to make today something to remember is to make it count; to do something that will cause the tomorrows of life to exist more unforgettably. When this is accomplished, today will last forever. History of Ancient Israel - Since the Dawn of Time
Israel is a nation that has existed in modern times since 1948; however, the history of Ancient Israel and its people began from the very dawn of time. The first set of feet to walk upon the earth was a man named Adam. All people, nations, and tribes would eventually come from this one individual. He was a man created from the very dust we sweep off our floors everyday. He was later joined by a woman, named Eve, who was taken quite literally from a rib in his chest. These two individuals, like the nation of Israel would eventually do, walked with God, talked with God, and lived together in a paradise called Eden alone with God. However, their fall into sin ended all this and has since led to the formation of the world we know today.
Centuries have passed since Adam and Eve walked in the Garden of Eden. Today, mankind can only imagine what these two saw during their time on this planet. The little we do know, however, tells the very beginning of the most important story humanity will ever know or understand. It is the story of a nation that would eventually be the earthly home to the Savior of all mankind; Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
