Being honest is key. My son has gotten a couple of jobs where the supervisor told him later that one of the reasons he was hired was because he was honest about a problem in the past.

someone else Qualifications are an important consideration. If you have a definite idea of what interests you, get experience however you can. As I liked making websites, I read voraciously about it and made websites, many (bad) websites. I worked on the one for my former job, did personal ones, helped other people with theirs and volunteered on organizational sites. And I slowly got better . My current boss has commented that already having a portfolio up was a big boost for me. Having the experience with a professional organization was also a plus for the library director. Librarians here are judged on community involvement and professional educational activities for tenure instead of publications. Now the invisible elephant. Appearance matters. Yes it sucks but there you are. If you want people to take you seriously you have to look the way they expect a professional to look. I took it for granted that everyone knew this but my boss (who is so not the kind of person to notice the way a person looks) has mentioned twice out-of-the-blue how good it was for me that I wore make-up that looked professional. One more thing is blogging. Yes

Resume Writing Tips
When an employer picks up your resume to read four main things should be immediately clear to them:
What your objective is/what type of job you are looking for
Where you have worked and for how long
Major accomplishments and results delivered
Education and additional relevant skills
To help the employer quickly pick these things out it is critical to have a well organized resume with clear headings and consistent formatting. Our favorite resume template can be download HERE. It is simple to use and accomplishes all of the above goals. Tip 2 - Use Clear, Concise Language
Original Text

Improved Text
Managed sign-up and ongoing schedules for over 500 different collegiate club tennis teams The new text gives the reader a sense of the scope and size of responsibilities that the resume writer had, which is an improvement over the first sentence. However, we can improve upon this by adding accomplishments.

Job Hunting Advice

Hello, I'm new to this community and this is my first time posting. I hope this topic is acceptable for this community and apologize if not, however, job hunting is listed in the interests so I assume it's OK.
I am an graduate accounting student at one of the top programs in the nation and I'm currently in the process of searching for employment after graduation (a mere two months away). While I'm open to a lot of possibilities, I want to do corporate accounting. There are a number of industries I would love to get involved in, but more than anything else, I want to get into alternative energy. However, the problem is that most companies in this industry are relatively small and these types of firms tend to hire only experienced accountants (as opposed to someone right out of school).
Despite that, I've scoured the Internet looking at companies that have any relationship to wind power, solar power, wave power, etc.; I've found almost no listed job opening for entry-level accountants anywhere. I've thought about targeting some of the firms in this industry and sending them a cover letter and resume in hopes that this might allow me to get my foot in the door.
My question is whether or not this is practical? I realize it's a long shot under any circumstances, but is this strategy even worth pursuing? Is it even possible that a company would be so impressed by my enthusiasm for the industry and might look at my credentials* and decide to make room for me?
