Jordan culture
Jordan is a diverse community. There are many different ethnic groups living in this small country; it has been a mixing pot of cultures for millennia. You are surrounded by its rich heritage and culture in the remnants of ancient civilizations long since past, yet they still remain, stamped into the very fabric of this amazing Kingdom and etched into the soul of the people who live here.
History
Jordan has been a hub for humanity since the dawn of civilisation. The Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians and Mesopotamians came in from the east. From the south came the Nabateans, while from the west, Pharonic Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, Byzantines and Crusaders. They left behind archaeological sites, historical towns and monuments scattered all across the country. Read more about Jordan's

By Ekaterina Zhdanova-Redman Jordan is a small kingdom in the Middle East. The family name of Jordan kings is Hashemite. That is why the full name of the country is Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. How would like to have a country named after your family?
Jordan as we know it today is a fairly young country. It was founded in the early 1920's. Its name was different then. It was called Transjordan ("beyond the Jordan") because the entire country lies across the River of Jordan from Palestine.
Most of the people of Jordan are Arabs. Most of them are Muslims. Jordan is situated on the territory that once was part of ancient Palestine. This is why many Jordanians trace their ancestry to ancient people who lived in Palestine.

Jordan Culture
The culture of Jordan, as in its spoken language, values, beliefs, ethnicities is Arab as the Kingdom is in the heart of Southwest Asia. Although many people from different regions of the world have come to settle in Jordan, like Circassians and Chechens, they have long been assimilated in the society and added their richness to the society that subsequently developed. Jordan has a very diverse cultural scene with many different artists, religious sects, and ethnic groups residing in the small country because of Jordan's reputation for stability and tolerance. Jordan borrows most of its music, cinema, and other forms of entertainment from other countries most specifically other Arab countries like Lebanon and Egypt and the West primarily the United States. There has been a rise of home-grown movies, television series, and music in Jordan, but they pale in comparison to the amount imported from abroad.

Jordan , officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan , is an Arab country in the Middle East. It is bordered by Syria to the north, Iraq to the north-east, Saudi Arabia to the east and south, and Israel and Palestine to the west. It shares with Israel and Palestine the coastlines of the Dead Sea, and the Gulf of Aqaba with Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Jordan is a Middle Eastern country, bordered by Syria to the north, Iraq to the northeast, Saudi Arabia to the east and south and Israel and West Bank to the west. All these border lines add up to 1,619 kilometres (1,006 mi). The Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea also touch the country, and thus Jordan has a coastline of 26 kilometres (16 mi).
Jordan consists mostly of arid desert plateau in the east, with Highland area in the west. The Great Rift Valley of the Jordan River separates Jordan and Israel. The highest point in the country is Jabal Ram (1,734 m; 5,689 ft), while the lowest is the Dead Sea (-486 m; -1,594 ft). Jordan is part of a region considered to be "the cradle of civilization".
Major cities include the capital Amman in the northwest, Irbid and Az Zarqa, both in the north.

There are those cases where we won't have to look far Love Tractor , for instance, is coming out with a brand new (and fantastic, too) CD March 6, and band members still call Athens home whether they actually live here year-round or not. Julie Phillips Jordan more Jordan columns There's also the case for the Atlanta bands that frequented Athens and earned plenty of fans here way back when, too. One of those The Swimming Pool Q's , founded in 1978, entertaining new wavers alongside bands like the B-52's and the Brains is still playing, with almost the identical line-up that graced stages in the mid-'80s (Bill Burton on drums; vocals by the band's one Athens resident Anne Richmond Boston; Jeff Calder on vocals and guitar; Bob Elsey on lead guitar and Tim DeLaney on bass). The Q's play Tasty World at 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, and their 1981 album ''The Deep End'' will be reissued sometime this year on DB Recs, to include 11 original tracks, 12 bonus tracks from 1978-1982, plus a 28-page booklet with archival photos.
