      Preamble
      As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others. We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized. Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power. In the following pages we have set forth our basic principles and enumerated various policy stands derived from those principles.

An Open Letter about the Politicization of the PC Industry
by Dan Fylstra
Dan Fylstra has been involved in the PC industry since its inception. He was founding Associate Editor of BYTE Magazine in 1975, and founder of VisiCorp, the marketer of VisiCalc, in 1979. He is currently president of PC software vendor Frontline Systems, Inc Please feel free to link to, or copy and distribute (as a whole), this Open Letter. Comments are welcome Please email them to danfylstra@hotmail.com This editorial cartoon by Gary Brookins matches my sentiments.
Introduction: Is this what we expected?
Somehow, things are not working out quite the way we expected: As I'm writing this, we're waiting to find out whether the Justice Department and/or a dozen state attorneys general will file lawsuits to stop the shipment of Windows 98 a decision which will impact the fortunes of not just Microsoft, but literally thousands of smaller companies, hundreds of thousands of us who make our living in the computer industry, and tens of millions of consumers. And there are strong hints that the government will soon launch an antitrust action against Intel. (Intel? What did they do? Among other things, they paid out money to PC makers who put the "Intel Inside" logo on their machines.) Now, in countless trade press articles, columns and editorials, people are asking: Should the government be involved? Will they do the right thing whatever that is? And how will it impact us? Have we opened Pandora's box?

    War is Senseless
    Written by Jay Edgar Latest News This Veteran's Day, let us remember the soldiers of past and present and demand an end to our foreign interventions. The United States has over 369,000 soldiers stationed in over 150 countries across the world. Soldiers are sacrificing their lives without making Americans any safer. The best that can be said for our efforts is that we provide free defense to other nations. Democrats and Republicans have both pushed for endless war, at an enormous cost in both money and lives. Thousands of Americans, Iraqis, and Afghans are killed and maimed while the band plays "Waltzing Matilda." a2a_linkname="War is Senseless";a2a_linkurl="http://njlp.org/news/partynews/latestnews/1082-war-is-senseless";
    The Tea Party, Deficits and Spending, and Entitlements
    Written by pugmaster Selected Blogs I am a strong supporter of the Tea Party movement. I believe the movement is correct when it says that the federal deficit and the astronomical spending done by the government are both unsustainable. I agree with the movement when it calls for cutting government down to constitutional size. Where I part company with the Tea Party movement, is when the movement says that entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid should be left alone. Considering that these programs are facing financial difficulties and are unsustainable under their present forms, and the fact that these programs are 39% of the U.S. Budget, to not reform them and ignore the problems that these programs face would be wrong and dangerous to the fiscal health of this republic.

Barr announces Libertarian White House bid
Former Republican's entry could cost McCain votes
Below:
  • ad info Associated Press Former Republican Rep. Bob Barr launched a Libertarian Party presidential bid Monday. The Associated Press updated 5/12/2008 3:16:43 PM ET Former Republican Rep. Bob Barr launched a Libertarian Party presidential bid Monday, saying voters are hungry for an alternative to the status quo who would dramatically cut the federal government. His candidacy throws a wild card into the White House race that many believe could peel away votes from Republican Sen. John McCain given the candidates' similar positions on fiscal policy. Barr, who has hired Ross Perot's former campaign manager, acknowledged that some Republicans have tried to discourage him from running. But he said he's getting in the race to win, not to play spoiler or to make a point.
