Your Library Today
This is the newsletter I share with upper elementary students this year. I find the "newsletter" format works great. I can highlight information I want to share in an easy-to-read (or read aloud) format. It is fun to offer children the option of taking these home. Nothing gets kids excited about reading and information & technology literacy skills like giving them things to share with their families.

Never Shelve Another Book!
Sound impossible? It's not. Your students are perfectly capable of shelving their own books. In my library students as young as Kindergarten-age put their own books away. That frees me up to take care of library business when I don't have classes.
The LiBerry Lady's Library Skills book shows you how to teach your students the art of shelving. The best part is, your students will learn valuable library skills in the process. They will learn the layout and function of the different parts more quickly than if you taught them all as individual skills. We all know a hands-on approach is the best way for students to learn. This book will help you shelve less and help them learn educational library skills!
The best part is each grade level builds upon the next so as the students go through the grades YOU have to teach the original skills less!!

Librarians and teachers believe in sharing. We believe that it isn't necessary to "reinvent the wheel" each time we approach a new lesson. We don't need to create from scratch lesson plans that others have already developed and tested. It's easier to fine tune an established lesson plan.
