Liechtenstein - Culture The arc of Liechtenstein culture spans the period from early times to the present day. The history of Liechtenstein has already been well researched and just as well documented. Various peoples have left their traces in Liechtenstein. In the National Museum of Liechtenstein (currently closed on account of structural damage), there are exhibits from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, the times of the Romans and the Middle Ages. Some outstanding ceramic finds have even given certain civilizations their scientific names. Also still present in the countryside are, for example, the foundations of a large Roman villa at Nendeln, the remnants of the walls of a Roman fort at Schaan, the foundations and remainders of various early churches at or below churches - at Eschen and Bendern, overgrown early Christian burial mounds (Balzers) and so on. In the Liechtenstein National Archives, there are also documents from medieval times when witch-hunting was widespread and claimed numerous victims Liechtenstein is full of life! There are plenty of attractions for all tastes:

Liechtenstein : Culture
Liechtenstein has no natural resources of commercial value, and virtually all raw materials, including wood, have to be imported. Industrialization, therefore, has as yet been free of the pollution problems suffered by other developed areas. All of the principality's forested areas are protected in order to maintain the ecology of the mountain slopes and to guard against erosion. There is no heavy industry, and the small manufacturing concerns are spread throughout the nation. Production includes metalworking, pharmaceuticals, optical lenses, electronic equipment, food processing, and the manufacture of consumer goods. In 1921 Liechtenstein adopted Swiss currency, and in 1923 it joined the Swiss customs union. Tourism is sponsored by the government. Most visitors come from the surrounding European countries and centre their activities around Vaduz. The registration of foreign firms in Liechtenstein provides a source of tax income. The nation has also become a centre of banking because of its stable political situation and its absolute bank secrecy.

Liechtenstein Liechtenstein: Tiny European Country and Tax Haven
Liechtenstein was founded in 1719, however its inhabitants are descendents of the Alemanni tribe that came to the region after 500 A.D. It was part of the German Confederation from 1815 to 1866 and formally abolished its army in 1868 and has adopted a neutral stance since then, which includes the two World Wars. The Liechtenstein is a known tax haven and many companies have opened their offices in the country to avail of the tax benefits. The Roman Catholic Church exerts a strong influence in the affairs of the country, as does the absolutist monarchy represented by Prince Hans Adam II.

Culture of Liechtenstein - Definition
Due to its small size, external influences from other states have made a lot of impact on Liechtenstein 's culture . The country is too small to have much of a self-contained cultural area. The Historical Society of the Principality of Liechtenstein plays a role in preserving the culture and history of the country. There are several art museums, the largest being the Princely Collections, there is also the National Art Museum and the Postage Stamp Museum and a few others. The most famous historical sites are Vaduz Castle, Gutenberg Castle, the Red House and the ruins of Schellenberg. Music and theatre are an important part of the culture. There are numerous music organisations such as the Liechtenstein Musical Company, the annual Guitar Days and the International Josef Gabriel Rheinberger Society and two main theatres.

Due to its small size, Liechtenstein has never been a self-contained cultural area. A vibrant cultural exchange throughout the entire region has taken place for centuries. Through membership in international organizations, cultural collaboration has developed far beyond the boundaries of the country.
Liechtenstein, situated on an important North-South route, was exposed to various external influences over the centuries which left their mark on the cultural life of the country and helped shape its identity: names of meadows going back to the Romans, burial objects bearing witness to past cultures, buildings and churches designed by the architects of the sovereign, contrasting with the rural architecture. Not to be forgotten in this connection are the German Confederation, the Customs Treaties with Austria and Switzerland, various European agreements in the area of culture and accession to the European Economic Area (EEA), whose Member States not only cooperate in the fields of politics and economics, but also in educational and cultural matters.
In accordance with the portfolio schedule of the Government, State cultural policy and cultural promotion are assigned to the
