Sample Literature Review
University students often reference sample literature reviews in order to learn more about how to write literature reviews. Indeed, students in English courses will have to write many literature reviews over their course of their academic study. Literature reviews not only give students an opportunity to read a particular literary work, but they also encourage the student to think critically about that work and the elements and tools that the author used. By looking over sample literature reviews, students can learn more about what kind of content belongs in literature reviews and what kind of format and flow these reviews often have. Also, sample literature reviews can help students to become familiar with the writing style of literature reviews, which is both informative and opinionated. In order for students to find the right sample literature review for their project, they need to first understand the topic that they need to write about. The topic will directly relate to the literary work that they need to cover in the literature review . Often, students benefit by accessing

Confessions of an Unredeemed Bibliophile by Mac Tonnies "There's more to life than books, you know, but not much more." The Smiths, "Handsome Devil" "Since so much modern science fiction is complete crap, and since I've spent most of the past six years reading academic non-fiction (resulting in a basic cluelessness regarding current fiction), I find Mac Tonnies' extensive reading lists and book reviews very helpful with steering me away from the many stinkers so readily available to people who really don't know any better." Busy, Busy, Busy More... Nonfiction Booklists Mac's Recommended "Cyberpunk" Fiction List Fiction Cyberpunk/Slipstream Strange, illuminating books that defy easy classification. Science Fiction Far-reaching examples of the genre. Utopian/Dystopian Essential sociological forecasts. William S. Burroughs A representative selection of Burroughs' best novels and stories. Philip K. Dick Quite possibly the 20th century's best author. J.G. Ballard Sleek and uncompromising, J.G. Ballard is one of the most important writers alive. William Gibson Gibson is probably the only living writer who can claim to have started a sub-genre.

    Movie Review: Morning Glory
    November 12th, 2010
    by William Bibbiani
Morning Glory is a film about morning people. I hate morning people. They’re chipper in the wee hours, charismatic go-getters by mid-day and tend to collapse just when I think things should be getting good. Morning Glory has the same problems. Comments:

    Movie Review: 127 Hours
    November 6th, 2010
    by William Bibbiani
It’s these moments that comprise the film’s greater theme, that in his final (127) hours even the most confident loner regrets the people he leaves behind. Not calling his mother back is more than a guilt trip, it’s a genuine tragedy, and the fact that this lack of communication will prevent anybody from ever even finding his body is just the punchline to one of life’s most malicious jokes. But once I started it, I had to finish it. The King of Methlehem Mark Lindquist A very close look, fictionalized, of how Meth affects people, the way they do it and the overwhelming sense that there are not enough law enforcement to deal with this huge wave of drug dealers. And Meth is a BAD drug. Pretty good but the tweekers were more interesting than the main characters. Once Bitten, Twice Shy Jennifer Rardin Bringing in the New Year on a fun, fast, and completely bubblegum series! What fun though! I read through this and the second book in just a few days. Another One Bites The Dust Jennifer Rardin Again, a great fun romp through the land of demons, vampires, and other scary creatures. A nice bit of fun if you miss BtVS as much as I do! Love this series. Now I have to wait to get the other three. Dragonspell Donita K. Paul Apparently, and obviously, I raided the Sci Fi/Fantasy area of the library! A fantanstic book for anyone who loves dragons, wizards, and various assorted other things. Love it. Am on to reading the second book in the series! Dragonquest Donita K. Paul

Negative Campaigns From Thomas Jefferson to George W. Bush
Interview with David Mark , author of Going Dirty: The Art of Negative Campaigning
Veteran political journalist David Mark is the senior editor of Politico . His career includes stints as editor of Campaigns and Elections magazine and as a reporter with Congressional Quarterly and the Associated Press. His book about negative political campaigns, Going Dirty has been featured in interviews on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and with pundits Bill O'Reilly and Greta van Sustern. Book Help Web How did all of this negative campaigning we see and hear come about?
David Mark: Negative campaigning goes back to the earliest days of our republic to the political campigns of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Back then, rather then television or web ads, it was in newspapers. We're used to objective news organizations now, but back then newspapers were very party-oriented, and they would print vicious things about candidates like Thomas Jefferson or John Adams. And it wasn't just about their policies. They would go after their personal lives their drinking habits, their wives, their children. They would allege all kinds of affairs and dastardly deeds in a way that we would never accept today.
Imagine the Founding Fathers participating in negative campaigning! What are some of your favorite stories about negative campaigning?

  • Manifesto of the Critical Theory of Society and Religion by Rudolf Siebert (Studies in Critical Social Sciences: Brill Academic) A wonderful summa of an intensely lived social and religious life. Siebert provides seminal insights derived from the Social theory of the Frankfort school and grounded in neo-Kantian German idealism. This is fused with the new political theology grounded in a vision of human rights and universal justice as the legal and ethical measure human sciences and institutions. The work, though daunting at first sight, actually makes a wonderful primer for students seeking a unified vision of social order that is not antagonistic to the effect of transcendent in human relations. More Justice in Genetics
The analysis in Justice in Genetics offers a justification for engaging in a global and more equitable redistribution of health-related resources. Louise Bernier, Professor and Head, Law and Life Sciences Program, University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, examines if and how this theory of distribution translates into positive law and analyzes the barriers to legal compliance and global distributive justice in health. • 98. Jonathan Treasure: The Herbal Bookworm
Full length reviews, lists, and other remarks on herbal medicine books, by Jonathan Treasure, a practicing herbalist.
    http://www.herbological.com/herbalbookworm.html
"The book of my enemy has been remaindered. And I rejoice..." Clive James Welcome to the updated Herbal Bookworm , now more focused on in-depth critical reviews of important herbal medicine texts with an emphasis on core principles of Western herbalism, both philosophical and clinical. The reviews are primarily intended for healthcare professionals lacking familiarity with the field of herbal medicine, as well as for students of herbal medicine, and of course any interested surfing reader. Multiple internet sources claim to offer "information" about medicinal herbs. Often these are obviously flawed or blatantly biased by commercial factors, while others claim to be authoritative simply because they mention "scientific" data and studies. Much published herbal "information", is compiled and presented by writers without qualifications or experience in herbal medicine, or even any kind of medicine at all, let alone knowledge of the plants themselves. They invariably violate the essential principles of the subject without even knowing it. Often however, there is a specific agenda, political, regulatory or ideological behind such efforts, which is not necessarily obvious to those unfamiliar with the terrain. Medicinal herbs are not the same as herbal medicine. Information about herbs per se, including much of the "science", even when compiled and presented intelligently (a rare enough event) and with the best of intentions (also rare) is intrinsically limited in practical terms by lack of any clinical context or understanding of the principles of botanical medicine. An analogy would be like thinking that a knowledge of needles enables one to understand or practice acupuncture.
