edit Economic weighting
Production weighting is a quintessential attribute for the index to be a measure of investment performance. This is achieved by assigning a weightage to each asset based on the amount of capital dedicated to holding that asset just as market capitalisation is used to assign weightages to components of equity indices. Since the appropriate weight assigned to each commodity is in proportion to the amount of that commodity flowing through the economy, the index is also an economic indicator.
edit Controversy
Goldman Sachs' entry into the commodities market via the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index has been implicated by some in the 2007–2008 world food price crisis . In a 2010 article in Harper's magazine, Frederick Kaufman magazine accused Goldman Sachs of profiting while many people went hungry or even starved. He argued that Goldman's large purchases of long-options on wheat futures created a

    Livestock and Animal Control
Livestock farming in the City of Ottawa is a large and diverse occupation. Traditional livestock breeds such as dairy and beef cattle, horses, sheep, swine, goats and poultry are interspersed with more unique types of farm animals including llamas, alpacas, emus, deer, elk, rabbits and waterfowl. Beekeeping is also flourishing in rural Ottawa. Honeybees not only provide us with honey, beeswax and medicinal products, but they are essential for the pollination of agricultural crops, gardens, trees and flowers. More information on livestock within the City of Ottawa. Dogs and cats are a fixture of rural life. Dogs in rural areas often take on a working role including predator control, livestock guardians and the home security system. Cats can be found in the barn keeping the rodent population under control. However, most dogs and cats are simply family pets. Whether you reside in urban or rural Ottawa, dogs and cats are subject to the same animal control bylaws including pet registration and noise complaints from barking dogs. Livestock Development

Livestock constitutes an important natural resource of the Southern African Region, with over 60% of the region’s total land area suitable for livestock farming. The farm animal resources of SADC are rich and immensely diverse. The livestock population in SADC is estimated at 64 million cattle, 39 million sheep, 38 million goats, 7 million pigs, 1 million equines and 380 million poultry. An estimated 75% out of the above livestock population is kept under smallholder traditional systems. Traditionally, farm animals are a source of food, skins, fertilizer, traction power, medicine and other raw materials. Although the livestock sector offers the region an opportunity for accelerated economic growth, diversification and increased trade, poor animal disease control and husbandry, lack of marketing infrastructure and information, lack of harmonised policy and strategy and inadequate capacity for coordination are hindering achieving those goals.

Berry Fields Farm pasture fed livestock includes beef, chicken, chevron, turkey and pork all available for ordering
http://www.berryfieldsfarm.net/livestock/index.html
Pasture fed livestock is healthier, less stressed, and more beneficial to our environment. When grazing animals are raised on their natural diet of grass instead of grain, their products are lower in bad fat and calories but higher in potentially life saving good fats , says Jo Robinson, co-author of the Omega Diet. Berryfields Farm offers pasture raised livestock including beef, chevon, chickens, turkey, and pork. We strive to produce quality animals while promoting a diet as close to natural as possible. We give no hormones, antibiotics, or growth promoters to any meat producing animals. Pasture finished beef available September through November. Call for availability. Processing will be at a USDA inspected facility of our choice or, if preferred, transportation to a facility of your choice may be arranged. At our facility meat is sold by the quarter, half, whole, or cuts as specified by the purchaser. Cuts will be wrapped and frozen. All meat is priced by hanging weight. Call for current pricing. Pasture finished goats are available September through December. Chevon is available year round. Processing is similar to beef(see above) We also offer registered full blood breeding stock. Call to review our excellent blood lines.

Small Acreage Livestock Managing Livestock On Small Acreages Protecting our drinking water, families and animals Whether you have a wealth of family experience to draw from or are new to raising animals, there are always new things to learn and new practices to adopt. Especially, when it comes to land management. Education is key Raising healthy, productive animals goes hand-in-hand with protecting our families and the environment - it is all interconnected. Do you know how to... - protect your drinking water well? - store and handle manure? - recycle manure on the land, and what to do if that is not an option? - manage livestock yards to reduce mud and runoff? - manage pastures to reduce feed costs, and how a pasture differs from a
