Leopard Gecko Care by Ron Tremper
The leopard gecko, ( Eublepharis macularius ), has been captive-bred in the United States for more than 30 years and is one of the most commonly kept lizards today. These hardy saurians come in a variety of colors, patterns and sizes. This is a great species for the home. Imagine a lizard that can vocalize and wash an eye with its tongue with ease. There is a friendly dinosaur in this small package. Availability Captive-bred leopard geckos can be found in pet stores, at reptile shows and on the Internet. Many breeders have websites where you can learn about, select and purchase healthy leopards, which range in price from $20 to $3,000. There is a huge collector market worldwide for the rarer variations of leopard geckos.
    Size
Hatchlings measure 3 to 4 inches long. Adult females are typically 7 to 8 inches, and males are 8 to 10 inches. Some males of the giant bloodlines reach nearly a foot. Life Span Leopard geckos are long-lived compared to some reptiles. On average you can expect your gecko to live six to 10 years, but many males live 10 to 20 years. At least one male is still breeding at 28 years of age in my colony.

Leopard and African Fat-Tailed Gecko Breeding, Egg Laying and Incubation
This document does not discuss basic care, only that related to the laying and incubation of eggs. For care information, please see the articles on leopard gecko care and fat-tailed care in the list of lizard care documents. Feeding And Supplementation
Offer vitamin- and calcium-coated food to females daily or every other day during breeding season. Pink mice are also good food for them. Laying Eggs
Females may lay several clutches of two eggs each during the breeding season; occasionally, single eggs are laid. Geckos which are very healthy and well cared for may lay as many as 8 times during the year, but fertility decreases with age. Very young geckos are also not as fertile. Older leopard geckos may stop producing any eggs during their last years. Freshly laid eggs are slightly sticky. If the egg is fertile, it will firm up, becoming rapidly turgid, and will will feel slightly chalky to the touch.

... Updates My Leo Pics Setup Links/Contact Links Link to me Contact usr="Silva"; Most Recent Update - Wednesday, December 11, 2002 Well, it's been awhile. Sorry but I haven't had a lot of time to update. This time I added a forum. You can use it to ask questions about leopard geckos or just talk. I think I'm going to keep this layout for a while. By the way, the site was designed for IE 5+ and 800x600 Resolution. What else... Gexd got it's 800th hit today. When I started the site back in August I had no idea it would get this far. Thanks to everyone who visited. Sign the guestbook if you get a chance. Saturday, October 26th, 2002 Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been really busy and haven't had much free time. Anyway, If you haven't noticed I made a new layout. I think this one's much easier to navigate and it's easier for me to put up new sections. It should load faster because there's less graphics. I also finished the feeder insect care section. I'm done with the cricket care sheet but I'm still working on the mealworm one. I also made an updates page so all of my old updates don't have to stay on the main page. I'll try to update more often but I don't know if I'll be able to. Monday, September 30, 2002
