Data are extracted using the operations first, butfirst, last, butlast, butmember, member and item. Data elements are added using sentence fput and lput.

The Logo programming language is an adaptation by Wally Feurzeig and Seymour Papert of the Lisp programming language that is easier to read. One could say that Logo is Lisp without the parentheses. Logo programming language
Logo is a computer programming language first developed in the late , by a team at BBN led by Seymour Papert , Wallace Feurzeig, and Daniel Bobrow. Logo was originally about manipulating words and sentences, hence its name, derived from the Greek word "logos" meaning "word". Papert, a professor at MIT and the author of Mindstorms: Children, Computers, and Powerful Ideas , later added the turtle graphics for which Logo is now most famous. Papert used LISP but changed the syntax so it is much easier to read. One could say that Logo is Lisp without the parentheses. Er, my first new topic, sorry if it's gone a bit wrong...
Anyway, as a kid in the 80s, myself and many of my classmates, were taught programming in the Logo
language, on BBC microcomputers.
Logo uses Turtle graphics, and mostly simple commands, LEFT 90, FORWARD 50 etc. Tho it has provision
for loops and subroutines as kids get cleverer with it. The language was invented specifically to teach kids

    What is Logo Programming?
Logo is a high-level programming language noted for its ease of use and graphics capabilities. Logo's syntax is more understandable for novices. Logo is so easy that it can be understood by the 7 to 77 years old. Logo's graphics language is called turtle graphics, which allows complex graphics images to be created with a minimum of coding. Logo is the simplest programming language. It was developed by Seymour Papert in 1968. It was developed originally as a teaching tool. Logo has evolved into a powerful computer language. There are about 200 commands and operations. Though Logo is a complete language it is mainly used for drawing. For more information about the importance of logo go to www.terrapinlogo.com

Forward 40: What Became of the LOGO Programming Language?

Forty years ago, researchers developed a programming language that would become a brilliant educational tool. My digital friend simultaneously gave me an intuition for geometry and how to think like a computer programmer. I would type FORWARD 50 and the turtle would move forward. When I gave the command RIGHT 90 , he would turn sharply to the right. If I prefaced those two commands with REPEAT 4 and surrounded them with brackets, the turtle would draw a square. While I sat at my desk one day, two of my classmates figured out how to overwrite the entire screen, which seemed kinda naughty at the time. They giggled, did it again, then giggled some more. From curious children, hackers were born. I was desperate to know how they did it. Eventually, they told me. Their method made sense: Tell the turtle to repeatedly move forward a very long distance and then turn very slightly.

Secure Programming for Linux and Unix HOWTO Creating Secure Software
This is the main web site for my free book, the Secure Programming for Linux and Unix HOWTO . This book provides a set of design and implementation guidelines for writing secure programs for Linux and Unix systems. Such programs include application programs used as viewers of remote data, web applications (including CGI scripts), network servers, and setuid/setgid programs. This document includes specific guidance for a number of languages, including C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, and Ada95. I give this book away in the hope that future software developers won't repeat past mistakes, resulting in more secure systems.
    Getting the Book
Most readers will want to either:
  • View the online version (as multipage HTML)
  • Download for printing (as PDF) This document is part of the Linux Documentation Project (LDP), and hence is also distributed in various Linux distributions. However, note that the LDP's version or the version in a CD-ROM distribution may not be as current as the main (master) web site at http://www.dwheeler.com/secure-programs

The Logo Programming Language, a dialect of Lisp, was designed as a tool for learning. Its features - interactivity, modularity, extensibility, flexibility of data types - follow from this goal. Interactivity Although there are some versions of Logo that compile, it is generally implemented as an interpreted language. The interactivity of this approach provides the user with immediate feedback on individual instructions, thus aiding in the debugging and learning process. Error messages are descriptive. For example fowad I don't know how to fowad (The word fowad is not a primitive - one of Logo's built in words - nor a procedure that you've defined.)
