Madagascar : Culture
Madagascar has experienced steady population growth throughout the twentieth century. Since the first systematic census was undertaken by colonial authorities at the turn of the twentieth century, the population has grown from 2.2 million in 1900 to 7.6 million in 1975 and to a population around by the IMF in mid-1993 at 11.86 million. It is expected that the population will approach 17 million by the end of the twentieth century, underscoring a more than fivefold increase in less than a hundred years. Moreover, the average rate of population growth itself has increased from 2.3% in 1975 to 3.1% over the 1980 to 1990 decade. This rate has made Madagascar one of the most rapidly growing countries in Africa, with a large youthful populationin 1992 nearly 55% of the population was under twenty years of age. A true understanding of the character of Madagascar's population and historical development requires an appreciation of the inhabitants' shared characteristics, including language and kinship structure, as well as the central highlands/côtier split and other divisions based on geographical regions. These latter divisions coincide with the major geographical divisions of the island: east coast, west coast, central highlands, southwest, and the Tsaratamana Massif. Within these regions, the people have certain cultural similarities accentuated by the natural environment. Antananarivo Antsiranana Fianaraantsoa Mahajanga ... AskBabyNames @ 2008 MapZones

They have musical groups that make and distribute CDs and tapes of their music, but the language that is used is Malagasy. Madagascar has its own music groups. They sell their music in different states via the internet. On the island 75% fo the people are farmers. The cheif crop is rice. Others herd cattle too.
Food/Clothing
People in Madagascar eat different things like rice, vegetables, fruit, and sometimes meat and fish. Their clothing is European styled. They dye their clothes different colors. The get the dyes from berries, minerals, and other natural resources.
Geography
Madagascar is not really a country inside Africa, yet more sits outside of the continent, but it is still counsidered part of Africa. Madagascar was made by a volcano many years before. The volcano erupted and its lava formed this island. Many years later, people have come to live on this island, and change it from an island to a country. Madagascar, like other islands, has typical island traits. It is also divided into two parts, the east and west coasts. The climate on the east side is tropical and humid. On the west coast is the same, only drier. Rainfall is useful on both sides all year round, since it is very hot on both coasts.

Perhaps the earliest explorers of the region were Arab . Indeed, Arabs knew of the Mascarenes , naming Mauritius "Dina Machrek" (Isle of the East), Rodrigues Dina Harobi (Abandoned Isle) and Réunion Dina Moghraib (Western Isle). This is testified by the planisphere of Cantino , made at Sagres . They also knew of Comoros or Madagascar.
