The song's name, Manic Depression , is an old name for bipolar disorder , a mental health disorder. There is no evidence that Hendrix ever suffered from (or did not suffer from) bipolar disorder himself, citation needed but when he was doing a press conference in London his manager at the time, Chas Chandler , told him that he sounded like a manic depressive. citation needed So the next day Hendrix wrote this tune.

People with manic depression alternate between two polar opposites: happy and monster truck . It should be noticed that this shit is dead fucking serious, because it happens directly in the brain , and is known by philosophers to be caused by CHEMICALS. During the happy faces, manic depressive individuals are known to sniff glue , which is contrasted sharply by the monster truck phase, which involves, paradoxically, driving monster trucks.

Manic depression was first diagnosed by Aristotle in Ancient Greece BC when he was fiddling with a Nintendo lovingly (and it liked it). Aristotle's cold suddenly caused him to rapdily switch between glue sniffing and monster truck driving, which, to quote him exactly, "was a fucking bitch to say the least, Socrates ." Needless to say it went away after a few days because unlike most manic depressives, Aristotle was not a

    Manic Depression
As categorized by the DSM-IV, bipolar disorder is a form of mood disorder characterized by a variation of mood between a phase of manic or hippomanic elation, hyperactivity and hyper imagination, and a depressive phase of inhibition, slowness to conceive ideas and move, and anxiety or sadness. Together these form what is commonly known as manic depression Manic depression, with its two principal sub-types, bipolar disorder and major depression, was first clinically described near the end of the 19th century by psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin, who published his account of the disease in his Textbook of Psychiatry . As described below, there are several forms of bipolar disorder. It should be noted that this disorder does not consist of mere "ups and downs". Ups and downs are experienced by virtually everyone and do not constitute a disorder. The mood swings of bipolar disorder are far more extreme than those experienced by most people. Note: Bipolar disorder is also commonly called "manic depression" by laymen (and by some psychiatrists in the twentieth century), although this usage is now unpopular with psychiatrists, who have standardized on Kraepelin's usage of the term manic depression to describe the whole bipolar spectrum that includes both bipolar disorder and unipolar depression. They now use

This summary of information about alternative medicine is designed to help to address these problems by giving bipolars an additional tool they can use to control their illness. In some cases, such alternative methods may work in a complementary way to the use of conventional medications, helping them to work better or, in some cases, to lower necessary dosages. In other cases, alternative treatments may be effective on their own, allowing some people to gradually taper off of their existing medications or (in cases where current mood stabilizers are deemed unacceptable by the patient and doctor because of health complications) may help to lessen mood swings to the point where patients can lead more normal and satisfying lives.
Alternative methods to the management of bipolar disorder tend to work in one or more of three different ways. First, some therapies seem to work in a similar fashion to pharmaceuticals, but with fewer side effects, in the direct management of moods. For example, acupuncture seems to be fairly effective at controlling mania for many people over the short-term, while the herb St. Johns Wort seems to have activity as an anti-depressant.

Manic depressive refers to mood swings from overly “high” (manic) to overly “low” (depressed). Another name for manic-depressive illness is bipolar disorder. This refers to a person’s mood alternating between “poles” of mania (highs) and depression (lows). Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that causes unusual changes in the person’s mood, energy, and ability to function.
Manic-depressive illness or bipolar disorder affects both men and women. Although it can start at any age, it usually begins in late adolescence. Bipolar disorder is found among people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, and social classes. It appears to have a genetic link and tends to run in families. Unfortunately, in addition to affecting the sufferer’s life, this disease also has the potential to devastate the lives of the caregivers and those in the immediate family circle. Manic depressive - How is it diagnosed?
The symptoms of manic-depressive illness or bipolar disorder are classified according to either manic or depressive episodes. Manic depressive states are diagnosed as:

From the ages of six to 15 she was educated in English convent schools, where she showed aptitude for the performing arts; then her education was polished off in European finishing schools. (According to Mia Farrow, 7-year-old Vivian told Farrow's mother Maureen O'Sullivan, who was a schoolmate, that she "was going to be famous.") At 18 she enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and at 19 she married barrister Leigh Holman, whose name she used to create her stage name, Vivien Leigh. A year later, still studying acting, she had a daughter, Suzanne. In the mid-1930s Vivien met and began a passionate pursuit of Laurence Olivier, who was then married to Jill Esmond. Leigh and Olivier soon began a very public affair, and after appearing together on both stage and screen, including

What! No referral letter? I got ready to about turn and walk out but they said to wait while they phoned the regional manager. Eventually they got a decision from the Minister for Health or some such high official that I could fill in the referral form myself then get it signed later by the shrink. What a palaver.
After all the paperwork was done they were all very warm and welcoming and it all went swimmingly. They do computer training and arts and crafts. I fancied trying a bit of painting so did that then nipped out to the local mobile minger van to grab a greasy burger for lunch. As I so rarely get out of the house I was desperate to indulge in the hugely risky game of food poison roulette. Despite the dodgy hygiene and the fact that it probably shortened my life expectancy by 5 years, the cheeseburger and onions were delicious.

I'm still writing music at a frantic rate and have been recording songs in my little studio/broom cupboard. Still doing the radio show (at the moment). I ordered the parts to build a new computer, they took my money then a couple of days later emailed me to say the stuff was out of stock. So I ended up buying a laptop and am tearing my hair out trying to get used to this touch pad thing...grrrrr! It also has an auto-click thing so if I hover over a hyperlink it automatically clicks through. I have no idea how to switch this off so if you have any idea please let me know before I lose all my chips on Zynga poker.
