Here's my story... good 'day, you see I am still Australian at heart despite my peripatetic lifestyle (that kind of means I spend my life travelling and teaching my ways). I am, as far as I know the world's most travelled wombat, well me and my wife. Both me and Mrs. Wombat - not pictured (she's the one taking the photos, that's why they are all so bad!) have been cruising the globe for many years now, leaving our home in the Blue Mountains near Sydney for a life on the road. We're the animal kingdoms closest equivalent to Michael Palin!
We once considered ourselves the world's only travelling wombats, but since creating this site we have (I kid you not) had e-mails and photos from at least five other globetrotting wombat . Nevertheless, we are in no doubt and safe in the knowledge that, we are the original mass moving marsupials.
Since my first stop in China I have managed to set paws on every continent(Antarctica aside), but still have many places to see. Nowadays I am still on the road looking for more and more famous photo opportunities - you can see some of the places I managed to get my furry face in front of below, but you will have to look hard in most cases. A kind of where's wombat competition!
In case you are a little confused, wombats are native Australian marsupials. Marsupial is Greek for 'little purse', since a marsupial is a mammal in which the female has a pouch where she carries her young for a considerable time after birth. Just like in my good friends the Kangaroos. We live (when not travelling) in burrows usually dug in the side of gullies and would you believe can run up to 40km per hour.

Dasyuromorphs are said to be modern representatives of a sort of basal stock of australodelphian marsupials , from which other Australian families arose. Cangur

About the fact sheet
The Northern Quoll is a medium-sized carnivorous marsupial that lives in the savannas of northern Australia. It is found from southeastern Queensland all the way to the northern Western Australian (WA) coast. Populations have declined across much of this range, particularly as a result of the spread of the cane toad.
