GEIR ELLINGSRUD ANNE RASCH-HALVORSEN Realister som har matematikk i sin fagkrets, er snart mangelvare i skolen. Hvem skal i fremtiden undervise elevene på ungdomstrinnet og i den videregående skole? F I grunnskolen går allenorske barn, fra seksåringene - noen er ikke mer enn fem oget halvt - til og med sekstenåringene. Alle vet hvorannerledes en seksåring og en sekstenåring er, og hvorforskjellig de tenker! Den matematikken en seksåring skallære, skiller seg selvsagt dramatisk fra den en sekstenåringskal forholde seg til, og det er opplagt atundervisningsmetodene da også må være annerledes. Sanglekerog glanspapirklipping er relevante metoder iseksårspedagogikk, men virker neppe for sekstenåringer.Allikevel er det i den obligatoriske lærerutdannelsen kun ett grunnkurs i matematikk, og det er felles foralle studenter!Det er på tide å gi slipp påenhetslæreren og dele lærerutdannelsen i flere retninger -én retning for dem som primært ønsker å bliungdomsskolelærere og én for lærere til småskole- ogmellomtrinnet.Hvilke grep er gjort fra politisk holdfor å få frem godt kvalifiserte matematikklærere på allenivåer i skolesystemet vårt?De nye planene er slik atlærerskolestudentene i teorien kan velge fordypningskurs imatematikk i fjerde studieår. De aller fleste skolene girimidlertid ikke dette tilbudet i det hele tatt forstudieåret 2001-2002. De hevder det er for få påmeldtestudenter til at de har råd til å starte kursene. Tilbudeter altså bare et papirtilbud på de fleste høyskolene. Etteren rundspørring vi har gjennomført, vil ca. 50 studenterkommende studieår på landsbasis få sjansen til fordypning imatematikk. Dette er et altfor lavt tall til å dekkeskoleverkets behov, og er en situasjon det i alle fall kangjøres
