Southern Mesopotamia specifically achieved great particular influence within the cities of Ur and Uruk, circa 3500 and 3000 BC. Influence continues to expand the presence of Mesopotamia and the Early Dynastic Period (roughly starting 2900 BC) is accompanied through this dynamic growth culminating in the Sumerian Civilization consisting of city states organized around a temple and ruled by a priesthood. Mesh-ki-ang-gasher is first King of Uruk followed by Enmerkar with Meskalamdug being recorded as first King of Ur succeeded by his son Akalamdug, and Akalamdug by his son Mesh-Ane-pada. There is also the Akkadians to the north of what is roughly the region of Iraq, followed by centuries of cultural cohesion with the Sumerians of the more southern parts of Mesopotamia brings forth Sargon of Akkad.

Mesopotamia Greek Old Persian Miyanrudan "the Land between the Rivers" or the Aramaic name Beth-Nahrin "two rivers") is a region of Southwest Asia . Strictly speaking, it is the alluvial plain lying between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in modern Iraq and Syria . More commonly, the term includes these river plains in totality as well as the surrounding lowland territories bounded by the Arabian Desert to the west and south, the Persian Gulf to the immediate south, the Zagros Mountains and the Caucasus mountains to the north.
Writings from Mesopotamia ( Uruk , modern Warka) are the earliest written work in the world, giving Mesopotamia the reputation of being the " Cradle of Civilization Mesopotamia was settled, and conquered, by numerous ancient civilizations, including the Sumerians Akkadians Babylonians Assyrians and the Persian Empire . Peoples who threatened or invaded these lands include the Hittites and the Elamites . During the time of the Persian Empire of Sassanids this area was called Dil-i Iranshahr meaning "Iran's Heart" and the metropol Ctesiphon , the capital of Persia , was situated in Mesopotamia.

Ancient Near East
The Ancient Near East was one of five locations in the world where civilization first emerged about five thousand years ago. (China, India, Mesoamerica and Egypt were the other areas.) Most of these early civilizations are termed "riverine" because they were based on river locations, and in the Near East, early societies arose along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in Mesopotamia. This particular region featured a succession of kingdoms/empires that rose, developed and then fell over time, and the area is generally considered by scholars to have lacked long-term socio-cultural stability. In the long run, the Near East proved especially important to the development of Western civilization because it was there that the basic religious forms of the Western world evolved. INTRODUCTION
Ancient Mesopotamia was considered one of the first civilizations throughout history. The name Mesopotamia means: “the land between two rivers”, between Tigris and Euphrates. This was very important for the ability of settling down, growing crops, and not having to depend on hunting.
The development of writing was also very important, for it saved many things we know about ancient Mesopotamia today.
In the beginning, Mesopotamia consisted of many small city-states, which later on started to grow into empires. These empires grew by having wars with their neighboring states. In this process, many empires collapsed, fell apart or were conquered by other empires.
In this project you will find out importance of people living thousands of years ago, developing new and better ways to live. These people were the starts of what we are today.

Chronology of the Ancient Near East
(Redirected from Short chronology The Chronology of the Ancient Orient deals with the notoriously difficult task of assigning dates to various events, rulers and dynasties of the and millennia BC. The chronology of this region is based on five sets of primary materials. They are, from the most recent to the earliest:
  • The Canon of Ptolemy An unbroken series of Neo- Assyrian king's names. Babylonian King Lists A and B , the Synchronistic Chronicle , the Assyrian King List, and a number of shorter lists of year names. The First Dynasty of Babylon , though ambiguities and disagreements have led to three different schemes for dates between the and centuries. The most common ("low chronology") sets the eighth year of Ammisaduqa at
