We are very greatful for our new silver trophy that has been donated to us by Sponsor Mike Longfield, pictured next to his carved roman column top, Mike has traded metal detectors from his Coventry home for over 32 years and gives the sport outstanding support, most definately the best place to purchase your new and used metal detectors. Website Link: http://www.metaldetectors.gbr.cc/
Club members organise rallies where we hold a competition to see who can find the best coin and best artefact for the day.
At the monthly club meeting we always have a display cabinet showing our best finds of the previous month, and it would be unusual not to have Roman coins, Medieval hammered coins, buckles, pipe tampers, thimbles, rings, military badges etc. on display every month.

    Metal detecting
is an interesting and enlightening hobby.  It can take you to a variety of interesting places all over the globe, or you can use it to find lost items on the beach or around the house. 1. Find a suitable detector from one of the many reliable companies available.   You will have to decide which type of detecting you are going to do.
    2. Many of the companies selling detectors offer training for a few hours or half a day, so take advantage of this training.
    3. There are a number of different types of detecting which can be taken up:
     a. Coin shooting is looking for coins after an event involving many people, like a baseball game, or simply looking for any old coins.
     b. Prospecting is looking for valuable metals like gold and silver in their natural form.
     c. Relic hunting is looking for anything valuable which has good age to it.
     d. Treasure hunting is looking for valuable items in general.
     e. Beach combing is looking for lost coins or jewelry on a beach and can be a simple or as complicated as one wishes.
