To begin with, although the absolute number of historical writings is staggering, only a small part of what happened in the past is observed... . And only a part of what was observed in the past was remembered by those who observed it; only a part of what was remembered was recorded; only a part of what was recorded has survived; only a part of what has survived has come to historians' attention; only a part of what has come to their attention is credible; only a part of what is credible has been grasped; and only a part of what has been grasped can be expounded or narrated by the historian. Agriculture began around 6500 BC in the Teohuacan valley with the growing of chile peppers and squash and progressed to a primitive form of corn between 5000 and 3500 BC. Mexico ’s first “civilization” appeared on the Gulf coast near what is now known as Veracruz . These were the Olmecs. Known for their giant stone sculptures of heads, they had two main centers: San Lorenzo , which flourished from about 1200 to 900 BC, and La Venta in Tabasco , which flourished until about 600 BC. By 300 BC village life based on agriculture and hunting was established throughout the southern half of Mexico Monte Alban was the center for the Zapotec people and had perhaps 10,000 inhabitants. It is suggested that this is where writing and the calendar were invented in

The History of Mexican Independence Although a movement toward Mexican independence had already been in progress since Napoleon’s conquest of Spain, Hidalgo’s passionate declaration was a swift, unpremeditated decision. "Mexicanos, Viva México!" Hidalgo told the Mexicans who were the members of New Spain’s lowest caste. He urged the exploited and embittered Mexicans to recover the lands that was stolen from their forefathers. That he was calling these people to revolution was a radical change in the original revolution plot devised by the criollos (Mexican-born Spaniards). Allende arrived in Dolores in the early morning hours of September 16. His message forced Hidalgo to make the most signficant decision of his life, a decision which marked the first struggle for Mexican independence and that would distinguish Hidalgo as the national hero of the revolution. The criollos had not gained enough military alliance to forfeit the gachupines rule, as the plot had leaked three months before the criollos target date of December 8.

The history of Mexico starts with the coming of the Olmecs , which dates back to 1000 BC. Then came the Aztecs , a tribe which ruled the largest area in Mexico till date. The areas around the Lake Texcoco was the place where the Aztecs resided during their stay in the country. The fertile lands of Mexico and mineral wealth had always attracted people from far and wide. The place was ruled by Spain which did not allow autonomy. Finally in 1808, Napolean conquered Spain and Mexico gained independence,in its true form. The elite people's dream of self-rule in the history of Mexico was materialised when an armed rebellion was headed by a Catholic priest father Miguel di Hidalgo y Costilla. After a two-year war , Santa Ana ,who was a Rebel General and also served a few years of Presidentship ,was blamed for loosing half his country to the United States in the year 1848. Ignasio Commonfort succeeded Santa Ana and placed Benito Juarez in his place.Constitution was liberalised and new land reforms were instituted. This liberalisation and new land reforms was not aggreeable to the high class and the wealthy people. This led to the conflict which is known as "
