General Education Diploma
(GED) Program
  • The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Inc. hosts a General Education Diploma (GED) Program in partnership with the St. Louis Public Schools and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program. The comprehensive GED Program provides basic education in reading, writing, mathe matics, oral communications, natural sciences, and social studies. GED Program instructors emphasize development of critical thinking, problem solving skills, and career planning. Two GED Program options are offered to the entire community. Day classes meet Monday–Friday, 9:00am–1:00 pm for students ages 16 – 21.

MU High School General Diploma Requirements
It is important that students earning a diploma from MU High School have a complete educational experience. For that reason the minimum requirements for an MU High School diploma meet those established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for public schools in the state. Students pursuing a general diploma from MU High School should complete the following minimum requirements. General Diploma Requirements Subject Area Requirements Units English/Language Arts to include 9th and 10th grade English Math Social Studies Science Fine Arts Practical Arts Physical Education/Health Personal Finance Personal Development Project Personal Development and Career Planning Courses Electives Total Students graduating before 12/31/09 may be eligible for the 22 credit diploma. Your counselor will let you know if you qualify.
  • In order to receive a diploma from the University Of Missouri High School, students must successfully complete a minimum of their five final courses (2 1/2 units) after acceptance into our diploma program, regardless of the number of credits earned at other schools. Units of credit are expressed in Carnegie Units.

Welcome to Missouri's GED OnlineClass!
GED OnlineClass is Missouri's online classroom for students looking for the flexibility of completing most of their GED test preparation at home. This program is sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). To enroll in the program you must
  • be a Missouri resident be 17 years old or older and not currently enrolled in high school go to an onsite class to take the placement tests study and communicate with your online teacher regularly return to an onsite class to re-test after 90 days
If you can meet these requirements, click on the "Enroll Now" tab at the top to complete the enrollment process. You will soon be contacted by an online teacher in your area. If you would like a little more information regarding GED OnlineClass, click the "Intro To GED OnlineClass" tab at the top of the page. General Educational Development (GED Tests) , developed by the General Educational development Testing Service of the American Council on Education (GED Testing Service), requires extensive preparation and the demonstration of a high level of high school knowledge and academic skills. The GED Tests are administered in Missouri only at Official Testing Centers under the direction of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, GED Testing section. Any other high school equivalency certificate not issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or another jurisdictional GED testing authority may be of dubious value and may not be accepted by employers, colleges and universities, or the military.
