FAQ's
Naturalist and writer John Muir once wrote: "The clearest way to the universe is through a forest wilderness." A solitary walk among the trees and mountains and into the heart of the land has changed many a man. Perhaps you have discovered within yourself a need for a change a need for something new, challenging and different. If you have dreamed of waking up each day to a new adventure instead of an old routine, why not follow your dream? It is through dreams that action is born, leading to a new level of living. You can make it happen, you can "live big" as a professional hunting or wilderness guide.
So You Wanna Be A Guide?
The Western Montana School for Guides provides guide school students with in-depth, hands-on training in dozens of essential topics necessary for your career as a professional guide or outfitter, or simply to be a better outdoorsman. 2. Community-Centered Education: The Art And Craft Of Heritage Teaching
Writings and essays from high school students throughout the state regarding current events and local history.
http://www.montanaheritageproject.org/
@import "http://www.montanaheritageproject.org/index.php?css=base/site_css.v.1184500430";
What is the Heritage Project?
The Heritage Project teaches young people to care about the place they live, including both the natural and the cultural environment. The method is to take community seriously by making it the subject of serious study. Students are invited to think deeply and clearly about the world around them as they explore the place they live: its relationship to the natural environment, its connections to national and world events, and the many cultural beliefs and practices that shape its unique character.
Asking questions
Students have researched questions such as these: What effect did the coming of television have upon life in Chester? How has ranching culture in Harlowton changed over the past 100 years? How did changes in the national economy affect the coal mining industry in Roundup? How did people in Libby respond to the influx of people during the construction of Libby Dam? How did World War II affect women in Townsend?
Researching the world as it exists locally
Thinking as detectives, journalists, folklorists, scientists, and historians, students search for clues in brittle old newspapers, fading photographs, and changed landscapes. They locate information in government and business archives. They examine historic buildings, community celebrations, and old letters for insight into what what changes, what stays the same, and why.

On Friday, October 1, MEA staff and students climbed to the peak of Mt. Ellis to raise money to be used for the Pakistan Flood relief efforts of the Central Asian Institute and the Adventist Development and Relieve Agency . Students raised over $8000 in sponsorship pledges to make the climb. This event was part of a larger effort on the part of Mount Ellis Academy and its students to give back after receiving the tremendous blessing of a $500,000 Kohl's Cares grant. With hearts full of gratitude we want to make a difference by supporting the good work of the two organizations listed above. We will continue our fund raising efforts through October 18. Our goal is to surpass $20,000. You can still help!
