Donations will begin at our October dinner meeting, continue in November, and a final donation collection will be at our December Toys for Tots brunch. Navy Leaguers have always been very generous in years past and I am sure this year will not be an exception. A collection box will be placed at the reservations table beginning in October. The Charlottesville Council of the Navy League, in partnership with the UVA NROTC Class of 1979, each year presents a sword to the outstanding Midshipman from the University of Virginia NROTC Unit. The sword is presented in the memory of Captain Edward Davis who spent 7.5 years as a prisoner in the Hanoi Hilton. Former recipients of the sword have gone on to exemplary careers in the Naval Service.
