What is 'New Age' Religion, and Why Can't Christians Get on Board? ...Continued from page 1
Barbara Curtis

Instead the typical New Ager believes: n God is in everything (pantheism)
n All things are one (monism)
n Man is God
n Mind creates reality
New Agers do not believe in evil. Therefore, they do not accept man's problem as separation by sin from God. Instead, they believe that each of us has forgotten his or her own divinity. Therefore, the New Age solution is to seek "higher consciousness" through meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, diet, crystals, channeling. spirit guides, and more. Each of these diverse practices has the same purpose: to awaken the god in man. Star Wars A true understanding of New Age practices makes one thing clear: Eastern practices cannot be blended into Christianity to produce something better . New Agers are Universalists, believing that all paths lead to God. They fault Christians for being intolerant and narrow-minded. But God's word anticipates this: "Enter the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the path that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (

47. Russian Church Overview

http://www2.sptimes.com/Treasures/TC.5.4.7.html
The Russian Church: An Overview
Around 900 A.D.
Russia shifted to Christianity. Grand Prince Vladimir of Novgorod, dissatisfied with his pagan faith, sent agents to investigate the four principal faiths of the time Islam, Judaism, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox Christianity. In awe of Constantinople's Byzantine Orthodox service, the agents reported back to the prince and Vladimir ordered his people christened immediately, using force if necessary, and adopted Orthodox Christianity. The Church led Russia away from barbarism, provided a sense of unity, and inspired Russian artists to create beautiful treasures. The early Russians were drawn to Christianity both through the aesthetic appeal of its liturgy and the ideals of its theology. Church art was not added to religion from without, but emanated from within. By the 11th century, the church was firmly established in Russia. The great cathedrals in Kiev and Novgorod already were erected and fashioned after the Hagia Sophia, the famous church in Constantinople. How deeply Christianity penetrated the masses at that period is difficult to say. But on the top level, Christian culture already was flowering.
Around 1200-1400
What was important was that Russian icon painting was not just an art, but a philosophy of colors. It was an artistic confession of the searching soul.

In 1798 following Napoleon's taking of Malta, the Order of Malta (Order of St John of Jerusalem) was dispersed, but with a large number of refugee Knights sheltering in St Petersburg, where they elected the Russian Emperor, Paul I as their Grand Master - a rival Grand Master to Ferdinand Hompesch then held in disgrace. Hompesch abdicated in 1799 leaving Paul as the only Grand Master. As de-facto Grand Master, Paul I of Russia created a Russian tradition within the Hospitaller Order - the "Russian Grand Priory" open to all Christians - which whilst it could not be accepted as a canonical part of the Roman Catholic Order, it was never-the-less a de-facto part of the ancient Order. Following Imperial Decrees of Alexander I of Russia in 1810/1811, a fiscal and legal separation of the Russian tradition of St John from the main Roman Catholic HQ was created. The Russian Order was now akin to the German JohanniterOrder, a Johannine tradition, but legally separate. This Russian Hospitaller tradition of St John continued within the Russian Empire, and then into Exile following the Revolution in 1917.

New Age Religion Is this thought process considered a religion? It is a combination of various belief systems? What is included?
http://www.allaboutspirituality.org/new-age-religion-faq.htm
New Age Religion
You are here: Spirituality Learn More About New Age! New Age Religion New age religion - Is it really a religion?
Religion may best be defined as man's way of relating to and worshipping God, and expressing his faith by how he lives. By this definition, the New Age movement never could be considered a religion. Instead, New Age is a combination of metaphysical, Eastern-influenced belief systems. Theology, nature, and philosophy, united to form New Age thought.
New Age consists of believing that human beings are divine, "co-creators," if you will. It also consists of using crystals, sending your spirit out of your body, channeling spirits (acting as a spirit medium), and tolerance for practically everything, except Christianity. This movement does not recognize the need of a Savior, or worship the One True God.

New Age Religions
Home Library Religion A lot of ink is used up attempting to describe New Age religions. There are so many movements, groups, cults, and sects falling under the rubric that it is impossible to deal with them all. But certain categories do recur consistently. Channeling Many New Age movements believe spirit entities speak, or are "channeled," through receptive humans. In the popular series of "Seth" books, for instance, Jane Roberts claims to be channeling Seth. In Seth Speaks, Seth describes himself this way: If you believe firmly that your consciousness is locked up somewhere inside your skull and is powerless to escape it, if you feel that your consciousness ends at the boundaries of your body, then you sell yourself short, and you will think I am only a delusion. I am no more a delusion than you are. I can say this to each of my readers honestly: I am older than you are, at least in terms of age as you think of it. If a writer can qualify as any kind of authority on the basis of age, therefore, then I should get a medal. I am an energy personality essence, no longer focused in physical matter. As such, I am aware of some truths that many of you seem to have forgotten.

The Military Orders
Including under this term every kind of brotherhood of knights secular as well as religious historians of the military orders have enumerated as many as a hundred, even after eliminating the apocryphal and stillborn. This great number is explained by the eagerness with which the Middle Ages welcomed an institution so thoroughly corresponding to the two occupations of that period, war and religion Royalty afterwards utilized this new idea to strengthen its own position or to reward faithful nobles, creating secular orders of knighthood until there was no country without its royal or princely order.
Apocryphal military orders
Even private individuals entered into the business; adventurers attempted to exploit the vanity of the noblesse by sham insignia of knighthood category of orders justly considered apocryphal In the seventeenth century Marino Caraccioli (1624), a Neapolitan nobleman, succeeded in passing himself off as Grand Master of the Order of Knights of St. George , which he pretended to trace to Constantine the Great.
