The state was also key in several important Revolutionary battles, such as the battles fought at Trenton and Princeton. New Jersey is the most densely-populated state in the United States and has the second-highest average income of all states. New Jersey was also vital during World War I and II as the center for naval construction. Battleships, destroyers, and cruisers were all manufactured in New Jersey. Today, New Jersey's economy is built on pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, printing and publishing, tourism, and shipping. New Jersey is home to the world's largest container port, the Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal.
