www.heartnm.com Come enjoy the "Heart of New Mexico." Nearly smack in the geographic middle is Albuquerque, our largest city and only metropolitan area. Here you can find the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Sandia Peak Ski Area and World's Longest Tramway, the Albuquerque Biological Park, numerous museums, art galleries, performance halls, vineyards, and historic Route 66. While the city and the surrounding area has a contemporary, bustling feel, the legends of the past are present and preserved. Now a thriving city, Albuquerque was once unchartered territory sought after by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado who was in search of what proved to be a highly elusive legend - the Golden Cities of Cíbola. What he found were vast, beautiful landscapes and a rich Pueblo heritage. The Santa Ana, Sandía, Zia, and Isleta pueblos remain and do well, most of them operating successful business ventures, mainly in the form of Las Vegas-style casinos that feature nationally known musical acts.

Welcome to AYSO in Albuquerque, New Mexico!!
World class soccer programs that enrich children's lives The American Youth Soccer Organization started in 1964 to promote the sport of soccer to American youth. AYSO offers a fun, exciting, and safe environment for about 4200 children to enjoy the sport of soccer here in Albuquerque. AYSO is all about the 5 philosophies of:
  • Everyone Plays - Our program's goal is for kids to play soccer-so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game. Balanced Teams - Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible-because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play. Open Registration - Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing. Positive Coaching - Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better skilled and better motivated players. Good Sportsmanship - We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

New Mexico Site Map Site Search Photograph Search Along with the Sangre de Cristo range, 35 miles distant across the Rio Grande valley, the Jemez Mountains form the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains which stretch over 2,000 miles north into Canada. They contain no great natural landmarks, just a large area of mostly undisturbed forested wilderness, with rocky peaks, meadows, mountain streams, lakes and waterfalls, and only occasional houses and villages. More unusual features result from past volcanic activity - there are hot springs, sulphurous vents and a caldera - a ring of hills comprising the remains of several long-extinct volcanoes. All the mountains form part of the 1.6 million acre Santa Fe National Forest , so are a good destination for free camping and many other recreational activities.
