New Year's Cooking
A new mix from Jesse... "My family has a thirty year plus tradition of gathering for several days around New Year's with my father's childhood best friend and his family. A huge part of this tradition is making an enormous and extravagant meal for dinner on the night of the 31st. This year, my girlfriend and I made a mix for the occasion"... December 2009.

New Years Cooking and Food Resolutions!
This past year I have to say has been great. I am healthy, semi financially ok, have a wonderful family and have been given challenges that I could not of dreamed of, but nonetheless doing well. Last year I decided that one resolution that I could keep would be to improve my baking skills. (yes I do silly things like that) Well I am happy to report that, where before I would absolutely run from a cookie sheet, I have embraced baking pans and tins I have never heard of. I have a popover pan, springform pans in every size, muffin tins, mini muffin tins, loaf pans, mini loaf pans. Oh and tart pans from tiny to large. Last night I baked two loaves of Anadama bread, and they came out beautifully!

Luv my hubby! Blog entries on: Do you have any special traditions or must have foods for New Years? In the South I believe you are suppose to have greens and black eye peas. Something we heard since moving south years ago as a child. Anyway, I like greens and black eye peas but never cook them myself. Usually eat them out or at someone elses home. This year I am giving it a shot myself. First is there any trick to cooking black eye peas. It says soak over night I guess long method or do a quick soak shorter method. Does it matter? Will either taste good? Any cooking tips you care to share? Logged Christian Forums on: Logged OldDad Global Moderator Legendary Member Manna: 181 Offline Mood: Gender: Posts: 5230 Trick or... or... OK, I got nothing but tricks.
