Our Vision... Education is increasingly the single most important factor in determining one's success in life. Public schools play a critical role in determining that level of success. Schools must be successful in increasing the percentage of students who are learning at high levels and are therefore able to be successful. The very economic and social fiber of society depends upon a steady stream of well-prepared, capable young people moving into adulthood. The core business of schools is the creation of engaging work for students work that results in students learning what is necessary and viewed as important in order to be considered well-educated in a global world. The first option is the calendar that the Scotland High Schools has run on the last two school years. Under this calendar, the high schools will finish their fall semester prior to winter break and start a new semester upon return in January. This calendar better aligns with the college calendar for students who are taking dual enrollment classes. Graduation will be held prior to Memorial Day.
The second option returns the high school to the same calendar as the elementary and middle schools. Under this calendar, all work days will align K-12 (with the exception of the Scotland Early College High School). Students at the high school will finish their fall semester in mid-January. Graduation will take place in early June. Scotland County Schools
