Across North Carolina, regions find their biotechnology niches: aquaculture in the Southeast, medical technology in the East, tissue regeneration, nanotechnology, other specialties elsewhere.

"Few states are so well able to incorporate biotechnology widely across their landscape as North Carolina," says Steven Burke, senior vice president of corporate affairs for the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park.
Helping all regions of the state developand gain frombiotechnology is a strategic thrust of the center, a nonprofit established in 1984 to support biotechnology research, business and education statewide. To accelerate regional development, it has opened regional offices in Winston-Salem, Asheville, Greenville and Wilmington. One will open this year in Charlotte. "All of these regions can be strengthened over time by targeted assistance, identification of niche areas, increased partnerships and focused leadership," Burke says.

TRLC's 10th Anniversary
Year-End Fundraising Campaign!
Your gift will help preserve
our home as a natural legacy for future generations! NEVER has our organization needed your support so much as we do during this fund drive. Over the last decade, we have been working throughout our community to protect drinking water, wildlife and land for farming, hunting and enjoying nature. Your support is needed so we can maintain a robust land stewardship program and provide adequate resources to uphold the easements we worked so hard to secure. Proceeds from the campaign will help the conservancy conduct wildlife inventories, create land management plans, and work with landowners to monitor and uphold our conservation easement agreements. We cannot forget the pivotal role our donors play in the success of our work.
