Nova Scotia – Geography
Nova Scotia is a small Canadian province with only 55.491 square km, a peninsula surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and separated from the continent by the Isthmus of Chignecto . The typical landscape here is given by the rocky shores, sunny hills represented by the White Hill Lake, also the highest point of the province (530m), and the foggy islands surrounding the peninsula. Due to the immense water surfaces surrounding the province the climate is milder than anywhere near and has four distinct seasons. There are also several important rivers, crossing the province, and flowing into the ocean like the Shubenacadie, Medway, Mersey and others. Nova Scotia has two main islands near its shores Cape Breton Island and Sable Island.

The climate is moderate and rainfall abundant. The east coast is rocky, with numerous bays and coves, and is dotted with many charming fishing villages. Off the beautiful south shore is Sable Island, called the graveyard of the Atlantic for its many shipwrecks; on the west coast huge Fundy tides wash the shores, extending into the Minas Basin and the Annapolis River estuary. Frequently visited historical sites include the Alexander Graham Bell Museum at Baddeck, the Shrine of Evangeline at Grand PrE, and the town of
