The University of Oregon Libraries provide many opportunities for students, faculty and staff to become familiar with the Libraries' spaces and services, improve research skills, learn about technology, and investigate the social, economic, and legal issues surrounding an increasingly complex information environment.
Building Tours
The UO Libraries are comprised of a main library and several smaller, specialized branch libraries. Tours of each of these facilities are available during student orientation periods and to organized groups (UO classes, classes from other colleges and universities, school groups, and community groups) upon request. Tours provide an orientation to physical spaces and services, but typically do not provide instruction in using the library's resources.
Classroom Instruction
Classroom instruction in information research and more is available for all UO courses. Librarians will work with faculty and GTFs to develop instruction specifically tailored to the needs of the learner, whether to meet the overall objectives of the course, or to help learners to accomplish a specific task. Instruction may also be provided to non-UO groups as time and space permit.

(Legal Newsline)-Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers said beginning this week local libraries will be receiving books and CDs on cancer care that were bought with residual funds from a multi-state antitrust settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb. The attorney general said 87 libraries and cancer centers replied to his letter offering the materials. Those centers and others also will receive cash grants when this distribution is completed, a statement said. The $64,000 in national residual funds comes from a 2003 settlement over whether Bristol-Myers Squibb violated federal and state antitrust laws through its sale and marketing of the cancer-fighting drug Taxol.
