  • Make time for friends Say hello to someone new every day. Join a new club or activity. One of the best ways to meet new people is through shared interests and activities. Introduce herself Volunteer . She will not only meet new people, but also will do something worthwhile, which can also build self-esteem.

Parenting: How to Stop Whining
All Children Whine
Dawn Hawkins Yahoo! Contributor Network
May 19, 2009 "Contribute content like this. Start Here It is inevitable that your child will, at some point, become a whiner. This is a very nerve racking event for parents. It is also very annoying for everyone that has to deal with it. There are ways to stop your child
Here are some ways to stop your child from whining:
Withhold
Do not give the child what he/she wants until he/she stops whining and asks for what he/she wants. You must teach the child how to ask though. When your child whines, tell him/her to stop whining. State very clearly "Say can I have that nicely and then you can have it". Your child will eventually learn the fine art of asking instead of whining. It takes a lot of time and practice, but he/she will master it. Don't forget to give your child what he/she is asking for as a reward.
Discouragement
Whine Along
Lead By Example
Adults are sometimes whiners too. Be a good example and don't whine in front of your children to get your way. It is more annoying for an adult to do it anyway. Be a good example to your child. Children mimic their parents. If you "ask nicely" your child will learn to ask nicely as well.

Child Protection Training: Talking With Your Kids about Crime
What follows are some times that you can use to talk to your child about crime and self-protection: The lessons about crime and self-protection should be ongoing Keep your talks age-appropriate Be sure not to teach lessons that are hypocritical Remember the golden rule that "you can't listen when your mouth is open." Be aware what your children watch on TV and discuss it with them .  Children, especially young children, often have a hard time differentiating between what they see on TV and the real word.  Cartoons and other shows often depict avengers brandishing swords and guns to thwart their enemies.  Kids often think that this is how real life should be and can wield sticks and fake guns in imitation.  Oftentimes, kids find real guns and use them in similar ways with very tragic consequences.  Next page
