About Zion
Above Zion's towering cliffs lies a rugged country of slickrock, broken by box canyons and cliffs. Originally this country was a flat mesa, and many flat remnants of this can be found, covered with junipers, surrounded by steep drop-offs of barren rock, ending in the canyons and desert vegetation below. Erosion has played its tricks on the surface of the stone, etching unearthly patterns on wide surfaces, and turning small surfaces into pinnacles and hoodoos. Miles of hiking trails provide access to the beautiful and popular sights near the road as well as remote and fantastic areas less commonly visited. Zion Canyon's walls are dotted with springs and creeks, seeping out of the towering cliffs, which provide for microclimates of water-loving vegetation, waterfalls and "weeping rocks". Zion is also home to one of America's longest tunnels. In order to connect the

Welcome to Canyonlands! Canyonlands preserves a colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character and offers different opportunities for exploration. Inside Canyonlands Join park rangers as they explore the many features of Canyonlands. These three to five minute videos provide an in-depth look at a range of topics...all of which you're likely to experience first-hand when you visit the park.

About Capitol Reef
Layers of sedimentary stone, tilted up at an odd angle, and weathered away by wind and rain, have created this intriguing wilderness of jagged canyons, stone formations and "pockets", always punctuated by the characteristic triangular shape of layers of rock sticking into the air. It became known as the Waterpocket Fold because low areas, eroded from the surrounding rock, collect pockets of water. This 100-mile-long geologic feature extends northward from the Colorado River to Thousand Lakes Mountain. Capitol Reef National Park was established December 18, 1971 to preserve the unique geology of the Waterpocket Fold. It covers 254,368 acres and was visited by 680,153 people in 1999. The Fremont River cuts through the Waterpocket Fold in the center of the Park, and Utah Highway 24 follows this route. For More Information:

About Arches
Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural stone arches, etched from Southern Utah's red sandstone, one of the largest concentrations of arches in the world. A rugged terrain of cliffs, pinnacles and washes harbors a scattering of sagebrush, junipers and other desert plants, often growing from cracks in the bedrock. The Colorado River borders the park on the southeast, having cut a deep gorge through the sandstone. Cliff-lined tributary canyons branch off of it, into the park. The sun typically beats down brilliantly, relieved in part by a breeze on the higher ridges. The most famous arches include Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch . No stone arch is probably more famous than Delicate Arch, and it's unique shape has become an icon worldwide. Landscape Arch spans 306 feet with a thin ribbon of rock. In 1991 a slab of rock 60 feet long, 11 feet wide and 4 feet thick fell from its underside - leaving an even thinner ribbon high in the air. Arches became a national Park on November 12, 1971, and it covers 76,353 acres. In 2003, it was visited by 755,987 people.

Glacier National Park, located in northern Montana, features over one million acres of rugged mountain beauty. As its name implies, several small glaciers are found within the park's boundaries. Glacier was established in 1910 as a national park and currently attracts roughly two million visitors per year to its snow-clad mountains and deep valleys. Glacier preserves over 1,000,000 acres of forests, alpine meadows, and lakes. Its diverse habitats are home to over 70 species of mammals and over 260 species of birds. The spectacular glaciated landscape is a hikers paradise containing 700 miles of maintained trails that lead deep into one of the largest intact ecosystems in the lower 48 states. The park contains over 350 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Sites and six National Historic Landmarks.
