A painted rock that looks like your cat or dog makes a great tribute to a living pet. Rock painting is also perfect for a dearly missed pet. A memorial rock can also be used as a pet grave marker since it can be displayed indoors or outside. See the section on memorials and grave markers for ideas on how you can paint them.
Rock painting is an inexpensive type of decorative painting. Smooth river stones are the best type of rocks to paint. You can find them or buy them at rock and stone supply businesses like I do. By Ann White eHow Contributor updated: December 28, 2009 I want to do this! What's This? Imagine that the company you work for is moving to Phoenix, Arizona and wants you to come along. While you are excited about the opportunity, you are hesitant because you possess an award winning rose garden in beautiful Oklahoma. Knowing little about Arizona, except that it is a desert and exceptionally hot, you wonder whether there is any way your roses would grow in such a climate. The answer, of course is yes, if the roses are placed on Arizona grown roots. Grafting is the process of combining the branches of one bush to the rootsystem of another to produce a better, more hearty varieity. Here, the Arizona rose bush root system can provide the Oklahoma rose's branches with enough water and nourishment to thrive. Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
  • Budwood Paper towels Plastic zipper bag Ice chest Rootstock Sharp grafting knife Grafting tape Grafting wax
Cut off as many branches as possible from the bushes to serve as budwood. The budwood should be growth from the past year and should be healthy and completely free from pests. The budwood should only be removed in winter, so that the branches are in their naturally dormant state.

The Five Most Popular Flowers for Your Garden
by: Colin J. Smith
When planting a garden there are many questions which you must ask yourself before you begin. Where are you going to plant it and do you have the garden equipment to do so? How big do you want your garden to be? When do flowers bloom and what are their heights?
These are all very important questions; however, they mean very little if you have not yet decided which types of flowers you want to plant. There are many to choose from, so don’t let anybody tell you which ones you can and can’t plant. Gardens are unique and fascinating to look at because each one is unique it its own way.
There are endless possibilities of flowers to choose from, but if you are unsure of which types of flowers look best in gardens, keep reading and you will find out. The following is a list of the five most popular types of garden flowers chosen by gardeners from all over the United States:
1. Cosmos - These flowers have the ability to grow anywhere from 12 inches to 4 feet tall. Cosmos are perfect for cutting gardens and are often picked out of gardens and used in flower arrangements.

Why aren't these tomato plants flowering?
While I've been downright smug about the bounty of my own tomato harvest, I have received a couple of plaintive cries from friends whose plants simply refuse to flower. In both cases, the specimens concerned are being grown in restricted space - one lot in a grow bag in a sheltered sunny spot outside (pictured left), and the other in a pot on a sunny indoor windowsill. It's not a case of the blooms not being pollinated - neither sets have produced flowering trusses in the first place. My own personal theory about this problem runs as follows. The plants are being spoiled: too much water or, more likely, too much fertiliser. Think about it: the flowering/fruiting mechanism is at itsmost basic a way for a plant to reproduce and ensure the next generation of plants. If the parent tomatoes are so cossetted they think they're going to live forever, there's no point in fruiting, right? The "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen" theory is one I subscribe to out of necessity as well as a desire to get a good crop. I can't get to the allotment on a daily basis and rarely feed my tomatoes, which are planted in soil, although the earth has been enhanced with home produced compoost and green manures. I also begin stripping the plants of leaves from the bottom as they begin to curl. This is a habit I must have picked up along the way - possibly from the TV show

The flowering stage of growing marijuana plants (click to enlarge ANY images)
The flowering stage of marijuana growth is probably the most satisfying, as your hard work and devoted time begins to show a pay-off. It's also a very telling time for the sex of your plants. Once your plants have reached 20" inches or so and look strong and green (well nourished), it is then time to change your lights to 12 hours ON and 12 hours OFF. This makes your plant think that Fall has come, and that it is time to begin flowering (budding). This is a separate room in my garden.
