Platypi Designs Friday, 12 May 2006 Guelph Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony I had the priviliage to participant as a nominee in this event held at the River Run Centre on May 11 2006. In January 2006 I was nominated by Brooke Ballantyne and Andrew MacKay for the Busioness, Labour, the Professions and Entrepreneurs category. It was quite an honour being nominated and having my nomination be accepted by the committee and it all came down to the big fundraising event on May 11th. It was a truly humbling and eye-opening experience to be in the company of so many women that make a difference in this community every day. This group of people were truly remarkable and it quite feel right to be included into this fine group of individuals. While watching as each category had a recipient chosen to represent their group for the 2006 year as the Women of Distinction in their category a dream was being born in me. Since last year December I have been thinking about what Guelph needed to help service the business community better and my answer was a building decidated to essential business services for the Guelph area. It was the evening of May 11 that I decided that my mission was clear. I am meant to try and bring the business community of Guelph a centralized business building that will enable small and medium size businesses access to essential services. In my idealistic world I would like to see the following: Bring the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, the Guelph Wellington Business Enterprise Centre under the same roof

They are active mainly at nighttime hours, and use their webbed feet for swimming. When swimming the platypus has its eyes shut. They swim underwater for 2 minutes, before returning to the surface for oxygen. They can however stay underwater for up to 10 minutes, and due to their natural buoyancy, they need to be underneath another object to do this. The Platypus has a wooly furred coat and range from 30cm to 45cms in length and the tail about 10 to 15 cms. The wooly furred coat actually has three different layers. The first layer keeps the animal warm, by trapping air, the second layer which provides an insulating coat for the animal, and lastly the third layer of long flat hairs to detect objects close by.
