Converting from ASA to ASE
Most new users of PowerBuilder start with SQL Anywhere as the back-end database engine (formerly Adaptive Server Anywhere or ASA, and before that Watcom). With growth, a need to shift and adapt to a wider database platform is thrust on developers by customers. A recent exercise in this regard, besides re-emphasizing our past amateurishness, has also helped us make a clean, lean application. This article, besides providing insights on how to avoid basic mistakes, also has a few tips for our experienced colleagues on how to do some spring cleaning of established applications. Background Our application development started as a hobby without any formal training (see About the Authors); so our application-making approach was based on intuition. We found PowerBuilder to be the most suitable platform for our data- and report-centric needs. It was natural to use Watcom and ... (

In today's economic conditions, optimizing efficiencies is no longer just a good idea. When streamlining overhead is necessary for survival, you need to include your operational systems. Our name is our purpose, to optimize the financial systems of our clients to meet their business needs. We utilized many different deployment methods, because we have found no two organizations are the same. We have found that even with customers that use the same business model, each management team has their own approach and resources available. While being flexible enough to meet each customer's' needs we understand and utilize the core principles required to successfully implement and transition to a new accounting system. We never leave our customers in the dark, because we are available 24 hours a day.
After years of partnering with SBT on numerous successful projects, we are proud to announce that we are an Authorized Value-Added Reseller (VAR). We offer both the Executive Series and Director Series versions. SBT Executive Series is highly flexible with the ability to successfully run the smallest and largest of businesses. Our smallest client is a one man shop processing sales orders while totalling as little as 15 invoices a month. Our largest client has had as many as 200 concurrent users operating in nine cities, eight states, and four countries. They produce 15,000 invoices in AR and 2,500 checks in AP on a monthly basis. Detail line items for this customer easily surpass 300,000 lines with no performance issues. Our biggest advantage is that Executive Series is flexible enough to work in almost any business fields and performace, because of size, is never an issue. Let OASI help you implement the right solution to meet your business goals.
