9. Dinosaur Model Modeled In Max
Image gallery of reconstruction drawings and three dimensional renderings of prehistoric animals.
http://www.3dstorm.com/dinosaur_model.html
This Deinonychus, a larger relative of the Velociraptor, was modeled using Nurbs-like spline tools to generate patches. Textures were then carefully painted for him in Photoshop, and mapped to him. He was then animated using Character Studio. The trick was to animate him fluidly and with realism, without compromising the very complex model...

are what 3Dstorm is all about. High quality 3d models are built using the latest version of 3Dstudio Max. Characters are built as either low-poly models or patch models. Applications of models range from polygon optimized characters for video games to high poly/patch models for feature work. Characters are hooked up for animation using Character Studio, Biped, and Physique (by Discrete - Kinetix), and hand animated. The hand keyframing process is often the only way to achieve fluid, custom tailored animation, and it's the only way to animate characters or objects performing actions that break normal physical laws. The quality of keyframe animation is a result of the animator's understanding of timing, weight, anticipation, follow-through, and all the traditional animation principles discovered by Disney, Chuck Jones, Halas, Whittaker, and all the great traditional character animators. 3D is simply a tool of expression, and it is up to the artist and animator to be true to his craft.

May 22nd 2007 09:12 Salmon – To the Native American culture, Salmon remains the sacred keeper of wisdom and inner knowing, who despite strong river currents, will always return to the place of its creation. And it is here that traditional Western dream analysis finds him also…in the waters of abundance.
If Salmon has swam upstream into your dream-lagoon, he is telling you it is time to trust your gut feelings and inner knowing towards reaching your goals. You must trust your inner wisdom now to flush out a possible rival. Stay away from those who would manipulate you for their own gain. Take note of where you begin to become distracted and confused?

11. Zdenek Burian
Czech artist providing illustrations for popular books on prehistoric animals written by the paleontologist, Josef Augusta.
http://www.bpib.com/illustrat/burian.htm
Well, I don't read Czech or Slovak, so I've had to piece together most of what follows. If I make some factual errors, it's not from lack of effort. Much of the following biographical data is from a short essay by Camille Cazedessus, Jr. in his long running fanzine, ERBdom , issue #68, March 1973. Zdenek Burian (Zdenek is pronounced "Zeh-DEN-yeck" because there's a little "v" over the n. "Burian is "BURR-ee-yahn" - pronounciation courtesy of the eminent William Stout - thanks, Bill.) was born in 1905 in Moravia, Czech Republic. He was to become one of the most influential depicters of prehistoric life of the century, rivaled only by Charles R. Knight. In 1923 he was enrolled as "a student in the second year" at the Academy of Graphic Arts in Prague. I assume that to be equivalent to a Sophomore in college. He was a published illustrator at the time. Apparently he wasn't making a living at it, though, as he worked as a construction laborer to pay his tuition. He flunked out of school and moved outside of Prague. He performed odd jobs for a living while he painted adventure illustrations, effectively teaching himself "using different techniques" until developing his own style. The economy of the time forced him further into the surrounding countryside where he became a "backwoodsman" for a time, living off the land. This personal bond with nature would follow him his entire life and give his paintings a reality that was honest and special.

Exploring
The Earth And Its
People In 1861, paleontologists made a shocking discovery in a German limestone quarry. Etched in a 150-million-year-old slab of rock was a creature almost too strange to believe. It looked like a small dinosaur with a long tail, sharp teeth, and clawed forelimbs. But it had feathers and wings like a bird! Named Archaeopteryx for "ancient wing", the prehistoric bird was hailed as a "missing link" between dinosaurs and birds. In the next 136 years, only six other fossil Archaeopteryx skeletons were unearthed, all in the famous Solnhofen limestone quarries of Bavaria, Germany. Not one of the famous seven fossils has ever been exhibited outside Europe until now. For the first time in North America, an Archaeopteryx will be on display at The Field Museum in Chicago from October 4 to 19, 1997, in the special exhibit - Archaeopteryx: The Bird That Rocked the World. One of the World's Most Famous Fossils "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see an original specimen of Archaeopteryx here in the United States," says Field Museum paleontologist Olivier Rieppel. "It's a very rare and extremely important fossil - one of the most famous in the world."

R eligion in the Philippines
Jack Miller
Focus on Asian Studies, The Philippines proudly boasts to be the only Christian nation in Asia. More than 86 percent of the population is Roman Catholic, 6 percent belong to various nationalized Christian cults, and another 2 percent belong to well over 100 Protestant denominations. In addition to the Christian majority, there is a vigorous 4 percent Muslim minority, concentrated on the southern islands of Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan. Scattered in isolated mountainous regions, the remaining 2 percent follow non-Western, indigenous beliefs and practices. The Chinese minority, although statistically insignificant, has been culturally influential in coloring Filipino Catholicism with many of the beliefs and practices of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The pre-Hispanic belief system of Filipinos consisted of a pantheon of gods, spirits, creatures, and men that guarded the streams, fields, trees, mountains, forests, and houses. Bathala, who created earth and man, was superior to these other gods and spirits. Regular sacrifices and prayers were offered to placate these deities and spiritssome of which were benevolent, some malevolent. Wood and metal images represented ancestral spirits, and no distinction was made between the spirits and their physical symbol. Reward or punishment after death was dependent upon behavior in this life. Anyone who had reputed power over the supernatural and natural was automatically elevated to a position of prominence. Every village had its share of shamans and priests who competitively plied their talents and carried on ritual curing. Many gained renown for their ability to develop

Geomodel and Geoexpo:
palaeontological and anthropological reconstructions.
Realization and renting.
Geomodel is an Italian workshop specializing in paleontological and anthropological reconstructions, internationally recognized and appreciated for precise technical creations of three dimensional models of dinosaurs , reptiles and prehistoric animals in scale and real scale; applauded for scientific accuracy because of the active role paleontologists play in the process of creation, in terms of anatomic, reptile skin and environment studies. The work is also characterized by the skill and methods applied to creating sculpure in resin and fiberglass as well as new innovative processes. Geomodel was established by a group of professional sculptors creating work for theme and amusement parks as well as scenography for theatre, exhibitions and public spaces. With the accumulated skills and knowledge from this beginning Geomodel expanded its field of work to specialize in the reproduction of animal and plant life forms from the Mesozic Era, adopting scientific methods directed towards didactic exhibitions and museum installations.
