There are three proposed cognitive subtypes of dyslexia: auditory, visual and attentional. Although dyslexia is not an intellectual disability, it is considered both a learning disability and a reading disability Dyslexia and IQ are not interrelated, since reading and cognition develop independently in individuals who have dyslexia.

What Are Three Free Reading Help Sites?
Reading frequently is one of the most effective ways for kids to improve their reading skills, but they may need additional help. Reading teachers at school will provide support, but you may want to let your child also use some of the resources on the following free reading help sites. 24. 1000 Pages Of Free Reading Vocabulary Materials And Phonics Worksheets
Try our free ReadingKEY materials and and 15 minutes you'll quickly see our method for teaching reading is dramatically more effective than any other reading program available

A BETTER WAY TO TEACH READING
You'll find the Tamparead's ReadingKEY Program to be the easiest and fastest method for improving reading ability in any child or adult. You'll observe far more progress in far less time using our very special techniques for simultaneously building vocabulary and fluency. HOW SHOULD READING BE TAUGHT?
For a student to learn to read effectively, he/she must first learn proper phonics and word-attack skills for being able to "figure-out" (decode) unknown words. The reading program should then build upon these skills to teach students the specific words that are common for their current grade and reading level in school. Only when this is accomplished, would it then make sense to move on to comprehension question and answer exercises. Doing it the other way around, results in slower progress and is a recipe for disaster for 30-40% of school age children. TRY IT FREE
Try the first nine weeks of any grade level absolutely free . You'll then see why teachers and entire school districts are now using the Tamparead's ReadingKEY Program to improve student reading ability in ways that other reading programs could never accomplish !

by the Eye Level Reading Ruler Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder are often connected with reading difficulties. However practical help is available, and it's not expensive! The effects of ADHD and ADD on reading can be reduced by using the Eye Level Reading Ruler from Crossbow Education. Focus and concentration are enhanced through the use of these handy tinted line trackers that help the adhd child to give full attention to the area of text being read without being distracted by the rest of the page. ADHD children can also be affected by scotopic sensitivity: the unsettling affect of the white page background that can cause text to appear to "move", or be traversed by distracting white "rivers". The Eye Level Reading Rulers help to counteract these adverse effects so the Adhd child can concentrate fully on decoding text. Adhd can severely hamper a child's path to reading fluency and learning success. For a small outlay, Eye Level Reading Rulers can make a big difference. If your child possesses symptoms of ADHD, get them medical advice.

My 9 year old autistic son was not reading when we were told by the school psychologist about Reading Upgrade. We put Alex on the program at home and in a short time he was above other students his age in reading.
The program was exciting, engaging, and paced just right. There has never been a need to remind him to do his levels. Anyone who has a child with PDD/Autism will know this in itself is nothing short of miraculous.
Thank you so much for such an awesome program. Alex has gone from no hope to a great reader thanks to Learning Upgrade programs. A Very Thankful Mom,

Reading disorders, such as Dyslexia and Meares-lrlen (Scotopic Sensitivity) Syndrome, affect a significant number of people. Dyslexia is the most common cause of reading difficulty - it is estimated that one in 10 children is dyslexic. Being affected by a reading disorder can be a daunting and frustrating experience for a child and, if not properly addressed, might lead to low self-esteem and underachievement in adult life. At the same time, children with dyslexia are often characterized by above average intelligence and can excel if given proper attention and assistance. History is full of examples of great people who have overcome dyslexia to achieve enormous success - George Washington and Albert Einstein being probably the most famous. Research has consistently shown that people with reading disorders can benefit from specifically designed reading tuition and improve their reading skills and ability to process information at any age.

Reading and Math Help Hell
See my new site at www.adhdtreatment.org for updated information
Since math and reading are the basic foundation skills for most other academic subjects, it is critical that children develop a high level of proficiency in them early. Until these doorways are open , the rest of education will be a major struggle. For many kids, that is exactly what happens. Once these doorways are open, the learning process becomes much easier. I know this struggle well from personal experience
My reading and math struggles
From ADHD: A Path to Success
My repeated failure at academic tasks, particularly reading, sparked raw terror in me. In elementary school, we had regular reading circles. Six or eight kids would sit around in a circle taking turns reading. I would sit there in a cold sweat as my turn came closer and closer. It was my teacher's version of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum." The reading blade kept coming closer and closer. To try to save face, I would count the number of children before my turn to read and try to calculate which paragraph I would be expected to read. Then I would go over and over this paragraph trying to work out every word. I would try to memorize it because I knew I was so anxious that there was no way I could actually read it in front of the other kids and teacher. Despite and because of my high anxiety efforts, I usually botched even the simplest reading task. I became even more humiliated, embarrassed, angry, depressed, and degraded. I could think of few things in life worse than reading.
