Are you financially prepared to pursue the life that you have planned to lead when you actually retire? Financial planning for retirement is very important. One should make sincere efforts to plan for retirement. Nobody can predict the future because you don’t know what will be return on your savings or what will be the inflation rate when you actually retire. How much money will be available through social security, if social security exists when you retire. Unfortunately, most of us start thinking about retirement planning when hardly 10 years’ time is left for our retirement. Effective retirement planning requires foreseeing the type of life you wish to lead after retirement. Do you like traveling every year? Would you like to pursue your hobbies that you couldn’t during your peak working years – like gardening, writing or visiting places you always wished to? Retirement is like playing second and longest innings of one’s life. Enjoying this phase comfortably and peacefully requires certain basics of retirement planning.

    Retirement Planning
As we live longer, healthier lives planning for a financially secure retirement becomes increasingly important. As we live longer healthier lives retirement planning takes on a new meaning and is of vital importance if you are to enjoy a happy and healthy retirement. No longer need it be a time of inactivity engendered by a feeling of uselessness. Rather, many of today’s senior citizens, enjoy active, productive and enjoyable lives.
It is the time when you can take up all those hobbies you never had time for, travel more, maybe move to an area you always wanted to live in but couldn’t due to work restraints, spend more time with your family, enjoy your garden and just generally spend each day doing something you find pleasurable rather than having to go to work.
Of course it can be a wrench to leave your job and colleagues. A feeling of worthlessness can settle in as the sense of "being someone" is no longer there. However accept your retirement as the next and exciting part of your life and make the most of it.
This is where retirement planning comes in and the earlier in life you start this the better. All the pleasures of retirement can only be enjoyed if your income is sufficient to support you and your spouse. In addition it has to grow with inflation as people are living longer and longer and obviously what supports you at 60 or 65 will not be adequate at 80.

Planning For A Lifetime It's not going to be your parents' retirement - rewarded at 65 with a gold watch, a guaranteed pension, and health insurance for life. For many Americans, retiring in this new century is a mystery. Earlier generations of workers could rely on employer-provided pensions, but now many workers will need to rely on their own work-related and personal savings plus Social Security benefits. These savings have to last longer because Americans are living longer, often into their eighties and nineties. If you are one of those people who want to plan - and are about 10 to 15 years from the day you retire - this booklet is for you. Today's (and tomorrow's) retirees may well have a new kind of retirement. With a longer and healthier life span, bikes, boats, planes, and RVs may be part of your life, because you are more likely than previous generations to be an active older American.

    Retirement Planning
    Overview
Most financial institutions recommend that you start planning for your retirement as soon as you enter the workforce, ideally in your twenties. There are a variety of ways to invest money to prepare for retirement. The earlier you start, the more money you will have available when you retire.
    How It Works
When you retire, Social Security benefits are guaranteed to be paid to you on a monthly basis for the rest of your life. For most people, the small amount they will receive each month from Social Security is hardly enough to meet the innumerable, yet essential monthly expenses. It may only be a mere fraction of the amount of money you made while working, depending on the amount paid into the system and the length of time Social Security tax was paid. People who retire have to drastically alter their lifestyles in order to make ends meet, or they may even have to continue working in some capacity to be able to pay their bills. Retirement planning involves making investments earlier in your life to save money to help fund your retirement and prevent you from having to rely on your regular savings and Social Security benefits alone. It can involve annuities, IRAs, a 401k and other methods of investment for retirement.
    Benefits
You will have complete peace of mind in knowing that you will not have to struggle to survive once you retire. If you start when you are young, say in your twenties, and make wise investments, you could retire quite wealthy and need not worry about how to stretch your Social Security benefits.
