29. Moondance Rowing - Recreational Touring Scull
Moondance Rowing by Bragg's Marine, manufactures fiberglass recreational touring sculls in Anderson, California.
http://braggsmarine.com/Moondancehome.html
For many years the health and fitness benefits of rowing in the United States were reserved primarily for the competitive collegiate or
Olympic racer. With the growing popularity of indoor rowing machines for exercise, rowing has gradually been brought into the
spotlight as an effective vehicle for physical fitness. However, many people find the restriction of indoor gyms confining and would
rather leave the stress of the world behind and retreat into the peacefulness of nature for their recreation. The Moondance
Recreational Touring Scull combines the fitness and stress-relieving benefits of rowing with the ease, fun, and relaxation of a
recreational watercraft.
The Moondance Touring Scull is a unique watercraft designed with the beginning rower in mind. The Moondance hull is wider at the
shear or gunwale than a traditional racing boat while the waterline width is still at a competitive 22inches. This makes the boat
challenging yet very forgiving in terms of rolling over, allowing the ease and safety to master the basic technique of rowing at the
rowers own pace. The open transom and easy boarding step provide simple exit and reentry to the boat in deep water. The

How can I get out on the water in Portland, Oregon?

How can I get out on the water in Portland, Oregon? When I visited Boston a friend took me out sailing on the Charles river. They had some sort of community program where you could take lessons and then take out boats you were certified for. It was a lot of fun, so I'm wondering if there's anything similar, not too expensive, in Portland. Rowing might be interesting too, or just some way to boat around without actually owning a boat. I have lots of experience listening to Sloop John B, if that helps?

As part of the legacy programme of the 2006 World Rowing Championships , the TRRC encouraged clubs across the region to introduce new rowers to the sport. We recognise that this poses a particular problem for those clubs based on the Tidal Thames, where conditions are not always ideal for beginners. The TRRC is therefore keen to encourage clubs to work together to hire/loan equipment suitable for beginners, thus allowing as many people as possible to try rowing. The following list is not exhaustive, but is based on information that has been supplied to the TRRC. If your club has similar equipment that you are happy to hire or loan to fellow clubs on the Tideway, please contact the TRRC Marketing Officer to be added to this list.
