From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search Scientology is a movement based on a system of beliefs. These beliefs are based on written words by L. Ron Hubbard . A few other people have added, but almost all of it is his. He started it in 1952. Hubbard contributed until his death in 1986. Different people understand the words he wrote differently. In some countries, there is a Church that stands behind it. A few countries - such as Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, or the Netherlands - are suspicious of the Church. They feel that it is a cult , and a business to make money. Scientology has been controversial since it began. Scientology teaches that people are immortal spirits who have forgotten their true nature. A system called auditing is used to help people remember. In auditing, people are able to re-experience painful events in their past. This helps people understand past, painful moments. There are a many organizations that are linked to Scientology. These help people get away from illegal drugs or to get back into society after they served a prison term, for example. Scientology also thinks that

Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths. Your Personality
Determines Your Happiness.
Know Why? Fill Out this FREE Personality Test and find out. Ever seen one of these, maybe slipped into your mailbox or tucked under a windshield wiper blade? It's a one-sheet, multiple-choice, 200-question exam. The quiz resembles an extremely watered-down version of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, which itself is fundamentally bogus. You are instructed to answer every question by checking one of three boxes (for yes, no, maybe). Then you are treated to 200 questions, such as:
  • Are you a slow eater?
  • Do you often ponder your own inferiority?
  • When recounting some amusing incident can you easily imitate the mannerisms or the dialect in the original incident?
Based on yes-no-maybe responses to incisive questions like these, it is possible to develop a detailed snapshot of your psychological makeup and take full stock of your crippling inadequacies. You're supposed to fill it out and send it back to a regional testing center (conveniently, it's even postage-paid). And then, a few days later, you'll receive a phone call inviting you to a local branch office to watch a videotape and go over your results. When you come in for that face-to-face meeting, invariably the upshot is that you are a total mess. Your life peaked a long time ago, and it's been getting progressively worse. You need help... a lot of it, and fast. But don't despair the same group who scored your exam is perfectly happy to sit down with you and explain what you need to solve those problems and reach your full potential. Which is: join the Church of Scientology.

From Science Fiction to Space-Age Religion John Weldon
Summary
The Church of Scientology is a controversial new religion developed by L. Ron Hubbard as an extension of his earlier psychological theories of Dianetics. Drawing on ideas from Buddhist and Hindu religious philosophy, science fiction, and Western concepts in psychology and science, L. Ron Hubbard produced a religion that sees all human beings as immortal spirits (thetans) who have forgotten their identity and become deceived by the very universe they mentally emanated in order to amuse themselves. Scientology claims it can free the thetan to realize his or her true nature and powers through certain controversial procedures that allegedly heal the mind and free the spirit.
Although the church claims its beliefs are not incompatible with Christian faith, an evaluation of what Scientology teaches in the areas of God, man, the creation, salvation, and death proves this is not so. Scientology is a powerful new religion whose teachings are inconsistent with the beliefs of orthodox Christian faith. Ours is an age of religious cacophony, as was the Roman Empire of Christ's time. From agnosticism to Hegelianism, from devil-worship to scientific rationalism, from theosophical cults to philosophies of process: virtually any world view conceivable is offered to modern man in the pluralistic marketplace of ideas. Our age is indeed in ideological and societal agony, grasping at anything and everything that can conceivably offer the ecstasy of a cosmic relationship or of a comprehensive

Welcome to the Church of Scientology, British Columbia Scientology founder Mr. L. Ron Hubbard, stated: Do you ever get tired of the scandal, death and destruction that dominates the news? Do you wish you could DO something about it? Something that would truly HELP? When Lorraine Baritz, Scientologist of Boston was called to the hospital by friends whose 13-year-old son was on life-support and in a coma four days after a severe motorcycle accident, she knew exactly what she needed to do to help. News of the recovery traveled rapidly through the hospital, reaching others standing vigil by their own children. A couple with an infant son in a coma asked her for help. And again Lorraine answered the call. The outcome as reported in the local of Boston newspaper: “When Church of Scientology volunteer minister Lorraine Baritz used her spiritual training to revive a 13-year-old motorcycle accident victim from a coma in a Boston hospital recently, it was considered a miracle." The article went on to sayh when she revived a baby from a coma a few days later, it was obvious that there is a workable way to save many lives.” Stories like these are commonplace, anything but common in a world where people have been searching for answers on how to provide last and real help to others.
