The capability of humans to program themselves through mental pictures or visualizations was first discovered by Pavlov.

Focused Visualization
or Self Programming The capability of humans to program themselves through mental pictures or visualizations was first discovered by Pavlov. He called it Higher Order Conditioning . The SPC Program is based along similar lines. The Self-programming Procedure is quite simple You mentally picture a typical situation where you are reaching for or beginning to engage in your old behavior. Now you see yourself going through your new replacement behavior. In this way all the cues associated with the old behavior become connected to the new one and act to automatically trigger the new behavior. In a way, all these old cues now act as "little bells" going off in your head reminding you to engage in your new behavior. Self-programming should be done on a regular daily basis, at least once a day. Step 1 Make a list of typical situations that are stressful to you or situations involving a behavior you wish to change.

lists A programming language is an artificial language designed to express computations that can be performed by a machine , particularly a computer . Programming languages can be used to create programs that control the behavior of a machine, to express algorithms precisely, or as a mode of human communication. Many programming languages have some form of written specification of their syntax (form) and semantics (meaning). Some languages are defined by a specification document. For example, the C programming language is specified by an ISO Standard. Other languages, such as Perl , have a dominant implementation that is used as a reference. The earliest programming languages predate the invention of the computer , and were used to direct the behavior of machines such as Jacquard looms and player pianos . Thousands of different programming languages have been created, mainly in the computer field, with many more being created every year. Most programming languages describe computation in an imperative style, i.e., as a sequence of commands, although some languages, such as those that support

Self-Programming of Hearing Aids
By Curtis Dickinson
I and several others have programmed our own hearing aids. We all believe it IS worth the learning curve. There are many of us who have the will to do the same but do not have the means. Money is not necessarily the problem here. . The first problem is getting the programming software and equipment. Much is proprietary. It just is not made available for non-sellers of hearing aids. The second problem is getting access to hearing aids without having to go through a middleman/audiologistwith their mark-up as high as 400% I will bet my last thin dime that if we had access to the above, many more people would have hearing aids which would lower the statistical rate of only 20% of the millions of consumers who need them actually have them. This would drop precipitously by putting hearing aids onto the open market. This fosters another dismal statistic, that 46% of those using hearing aids are not satisfied with them. This too could change precipitously with self-programming. Self-programming gives us the control we need to help our hearing loss. Currently we get tired of going to and fro with the audiologist who, at some point, could very well say, "Get used to it." If there was an open market of hearing aids and programming equipment, we would NOT bad-mouth the sellers or wonder if they knew what they were doing. We would not feel guilty for our unforgiving hearing loss. We would all feel better when we have an open source of information about the hundreds of hearing aids available and the means to program them ourselves. Even the audiologists could be more honest with themselves and to us.

COMPUTE! ISSUE 56 / JANUARY 1985 / PAGE 10 Self-Programming Computers I have a Commodore 64, and recently while running a program I encountered a ?SYNTAX ERROR IN LINE 580 message. When I listed line 580, there was none. When I ran the program again, I got another ?SYNTAX ERROR, but this time in line 13337. When I checked the original listing, there was no line numbered 13337. When I listed 13337, all that was displayed was gibberish. Even worse, when I attempted to delete 13337, the screen went black, a strange sound came out of the speaker, and the keyboard locked up. What happened? Neal Hatton You didn't mention what kind of program it was, or where you obtained your listing, but you have encountered one of the more subtle programming bugs, the self-modifying program. When sprite data and redefined character data are POKEd into a program, you must exercise some caution to prevent overwriting areas of the program you need. This is one of the things we check when testing programs for publication. If variables are causing the program to overwrite and crash, it could seem to function normally for a while before the program is corrupted. That gibberish you saw on the screen when you tried to list the program was caused by your computer attempting to interpret the data it found in memory as a BASIC line, reading the data as tokens. Many strange things can happen when a program is destroyed this way, and it's usually necessary to turn off your computer to regain control from your program's nervous breakdown.

Rexx/Wrapper
Overview
Rexx/Wrapper is a tool that wraps Rexx source or tokenised code into an executable.
The Rexx source code can be optionally compressed and encoded to ensure that the original Rexx code cannot be viewed (unless you have the original encryption key).
To use Rexx/Wrapper you need two extra bits of software:
  • A supported Rexx interpreter A supported C compiler
  • See the Rexx/Wrapper documentation for further details.
    Support
With Rexx/Wrapper on SourceForge, support resources for Rexx/Wrapper . such as mailing lists, discussion forums, bug reporting and feature requests are available. Rexx/Wrapper is freeware, distributed under the GNU General Public License
    Not a Compiler
Rexx/Wrapper is not a compiler. It does not compile the Rexx code into native machine code; the Rexx code is still interpreted by a Rexx interpreter. Mark Hessling mark@rexx.org

Self programming hearing aids have been on the market for years but are not selling well. The reason is that you have to learn whole new skills to get self programming hearing aids to work. Many elderly people also have not grown up with computers and really do not want to have to learn a whole new technology when there's bingo night happening. And, quite frankly, who can blame them? Self programming hearing aids are akin to knowing car engine repair. How many people have the time, money and dexterity to take and remember any car repair classes? But some self programming hearing aids are really very basic - they work like a teeny tiny amplifier. The "self programming" is merely adjusting the volume. They are often called "self-adjusting hearing aids". If you have very common mild hearing loss, perhaps this king of self programming hearing aids will help you get buy. These kinds of hearing losses include "noise induced hearing loss" and presbycuis (you're loosing your hearing because of old age). In fact, with those kinds of hearing losses, you can even try over the counter hearing aids and they may help. Self Programming Hearing Aids Are Not Easily Available

IRT (Item Response Theory) has been undergoing important developments in the past few years. Indeed, many general purpose statistical packages still don't have procedures implementing these new indices, methods and models. As a consequence, a significant number of specific packages have been developed by psychometricians (see http://www.assess.com ). However, no package offers a comprehensive set of methods, and no package has emerged as standard tool in the field. The increasing sophistication of general statistical packages, on the other hand, allows user-written routines to be developed which will implement IRT methods within the context of an already-familiar computing environment. This site presents a set of macro-programs for use with Stata or SAS. While they were originally developed to analyse quality of life scales, they can, of course, be used in the area of psychometrics, test construction etc. These macros come in the following categories:
    • Selection of items to form unidimensional scales (RASCHFIT, MSP, HCACCPROX, BACKRASCH, CLV)

Neuro-Programmer 2 The Best Self-Programming Software Ever Developed Just Got Better
Updated Review : The last eight months have shown that Neuro-Programmer from Transparent Corporation which I praised in a review back in August of last year is the best self-programming software ever developed. Now there is more good news: Neuro-Programmer Version 2.0 with an all-new interface and lots of technical innovations has been released! You can read about the new features here and see the new interface in the picture below. Some of the benefits of using the Neuro-Programmer that people people have told me about range from managing day-to-day life to the enhancement of a variety of abilities. Most people live their lives in a constant battle with their own mind and their own behaviors. Many of these problems are so deeply rooted they have existed since childhood. The Neuro-Programmer v2 is an innovative software application for the PC, built to help you achieve rapid and long lasting personal change. The program stimulates Brainwaves while using Hypnosis, NLP and other psychological techniques to help you transform your mind and enhance your mental abilities.
