Snowmobiling Snowmobiling is allowed on the frozen surface of the St. Croix River, with some exceptions, on designated snowmobile trails sponsored by the state, county, or clubs and designated river crossings. The National Park Service adopts and enforces all state laws as applicable. St. Croix River: Snowmobiles can travel on the frozen river surface from Prescott to the Osceola Bridge and from St. Croix Falls to Riverside. Snowmobiling from the Highway 243 bridge at Osceola, Wisconsin north to the Xcel Energy Hydroelectric Dam at St. Croix Falls is prohibited at all times due to unsafe ice. Travel is also prohibited from the Highway 35 bridge at Riverside, north to Gordan Dam. Namekagon River : Snowmobiles may cross the river at locations along designated trails, but may not travel the length of the river. Safety and Rules:
The St. Croix and Namekagon rivers do not freeze uniformly, currents, springs, water depth, and water level fluctuations because of the dams, all contribute to ice that can be thick or thin within short distances. Use caution and pay attention for thin ice when travelling on the river.

Minnesota Snowmobile Trails Lead to Great Adventure at Wildwood Resort
W ildwood Resort brings you snowmobiling in Minnesota at its best, with a varying terrain that makes for exciting riding and spectacular scenery. Wildwood is located in the heart of Minnesota's prime snowmobiling region of Itasca County and our central location makes the resort an ideal hub from which to explore. There are more than 1,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails here regarded as some of the finest in the state. Nowhere does snowmobiling in Minnesota get any better. The new Bushwacker Trail runs directly along the south side of Bass Lake, so all you have to do is unload your snowmobile and connect via a couple-minute ride from your cabin to the trail system across the bay. Itasca County's Trail system ties into the popular Taconite Trail linking all of Northern Minnesota. The area's 13 snowmobile clubs work hard to keep our trails in top condition, as do our local county and state trail groomers. You won't find a more dedicated and fun-loving group of people. Be sure to stop in at an area clubhouse for a break and meet some new friends. With an annual average snowfall of nearly 5 feet, it's no wonder that people from around the country come to this region of Minnesota to experience the best snow, our comfortable accommodations, and the incredible winter scenery of the Northwoods. Along with the groomed trails are many miles of beautiful scenery and wildlife that will take you back into some breathtaking pristine areas, getting you away from the crowds.
