SOCCER HISTORY MAGAZINE
About
Soccer History Magazine is a quarterly magazine devoted to the history of the world’s greatest game. A typical issue has 56 pages, containing 6 articles, plus book listings and reviews and recent obituaries. The content focuses on the professional game in England,Ireland, Scotland and Wales, although we also feature articles on non-League football and on the history of the game in other countries. The articles are mostly based on new and original research, and cover a full chronological range from the 1860s, when soccer was first codified, through to the 1970s. Soccer History first appeared in 2002 and since then it has earned a reputation for quality writing and ground-breaking research. We cover all aspects of the game, not just the 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon when teams meet in combat for points or progression in cup tournaments. Past articles have included the story of indoor football in England (which dates back to at least 1890), the opening of both Hampden Park and the first Wembley Stadium, supporter culture and the origins of many teams ranging from Aston Villa to Hamilton Academical.

    Soccer History
    In Brief Overview
Soccer history began in the mid-nineteenth century, when the game of soccer was developed in England. However, the origin of soccer goes as far back as 2500 B.C. It is believed soccer derived from a combination of ancient games.
The Chinese are credited with the earliest form of soccer, commonly recognized as approximately 2500 B.C. They played a game called "Tsu Chu", which may be translated to "kicking the leather and stuffed ball with feet". The game was part of the physical education program used to train soldiers. The goal was a net with a hole strung between two bamboo poles that were 30 feet high. To "score", the ball had to go through the hole in the net and players were not allowed to use their hands. In approximately 50 BC, the Japanese played a game in which players kicked a ball made of deerskin on a small field. They called it "Kemari". The game was not competitive and was played by different classes of people to exercise and relax. The ball was simply passed from player to player in the air and was only touched with the feet.
A game called "Episkyros", between two teams of 12 players with one ball, was played in

Colin Jose has been researching the history of soccer in both Canada and the United States for over 40 years, and is currently the historian at The Soccer Hall of Fame in Vaughan, Ontario and Historian Emeritus at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, New York. Colin was born in England in the seaport town of Falmouth but moved to Canada 50 years ago. He is the author of nine books on the history of soccer in North America including two books on the North American Soccer League, NASL: A Complete Record of the North American Soccer League and North American Soccer League Encyclopedia . The others include American Soccer League 1921-1931 The Encyclopedia of American Soccer History (written with Roger Allaway and David Litterer), The United States Tackles the World Cup (with Roger Allaway), The United States and World Cup Soccer Competition, The Story of Soccer in Canada Keeping Score: The Encyclopedia of Canadian Soccer and On Side: 125 Years of Soccer in Ontario Unlike sports such as hockey, football, baseball and basketball, very few records were ever kept of soccer in North America, and hardly any books were ever published. But over the years, working with newspaper microfilm, Colin has reconstructed many of the records of the game that had long been considered to be lost. Over time it is hoped that this website will contain many of those records.

Soccer History Unearthed - Just FYI! Asia Japanese Soccer History
The Japanese version of Soccer is called Kemari, and is perhaps one of the most different forms of the sport, in comparison to modern soccer. Kemari was a game of "Keep it up", much like modern hacky sacks, although used with a larger ball that was stuffed with saw dust.
This version involves a "pitch", or the field, designated by the selection of four trees, the cherry, maple, pine and willow. Many great houses in Japan would grow trees to have a permanent pitch, or field, established. Kemari was normally played with two to twelve players. Established in roughly 1004 B.C., it vies for position of the oldest game with China's Tsu Chu. In fact, China's Tsu Chu players and Japan's Kemari players were the first to have an "International" game of their versions of Soccer, which is dated to have occurred in roughly 50 B.C., although a definite date of 611 A.D. is known. Regardless, this game stands with China as a sister sport to Soccer, while it never affected the modern version of the game.
    Chinese Soccer History
For many, this is the oldest version of soccer to exist. However, there is quite a lot of controversy over whether this or Japan's version is the oldest.

    53. History Of Soccer In Mexico
Unfortunately, this hope proved without a foundation, as Mexico had one of the poorest World Cups in the entire Mexican soccer history in 1930, finishing last in the group stage
    http://www.soccer-fans-info.com/history-of-soccer-in-mexico.html
    History of Soccer in Mexico
The history of soccer in Mexico doesn't have the same starting point as in many other Central and South American countries such as Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, to name some of the most important in the area. However, the passion for soccer in Mexico started to bloom a few years prior to the first World Cup in 1930, with a professional championship being formed and the first national selection in the history of Mexican soccer history occurring in 1927.
    - The first ever international match in the history of soccer in Mexico was played on January the 1st, against Guatemala on their home ground.
The Mexican team won 3-2 and it looked it would have a bright start. Unfortunately, this hope proved without a foundation, as Mexico had one of the poorest World Cups in the entire Mexican soccer history in 1930, finishing last in the group stage, with nothing but defeats.
Unfortunately, after the 1930 World Cup, a very poor period emerged in the history of Mexican soccer, on both local and international levels.
The Mexican league, despite being professionalized by now, was still suffering from corruption, match fixing and lack of training conditions and that state of things translated into a poor performance by the national team as well.
