intermediate methods text?

Hi all,
Our department will be offering a new course next year a combined, intermediate level theory and methods course. We've found that many of our students are unprepared for what we expect of them in the senior level theory and methods courses. Either they don't get what they need in intro, or they forget it by the time they are seniors.
I'm searching for two relatively brief and accessible texts one for theory and one for methods that should be more advanced than the treatment theory and methods get in your standard intro text, but not as advanced as you might get in a senior level course.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Robert Bulman
