Spain Government
Spain Government or we can say government in Spain earlier was following a strict and dictatorial policy but with the passage of time it started following a liberal democratic policy. Previously the Spain government operated centrally. The separate states was not given power to take any independent decisions. All these major changes took place in the twentieth century.
Government type of Spain even when Spain was going through unfavorable political conditions had a consistency without any civil war .This was the most remarkable feature of the government of Spain.
For long the people of Spain were dominated by its government and hence the people were happy to accept a modified government. They were happy with the referenda and elections.
The new organizations which were set up under the new democratic rule followed the principles of innovation and devolution. The Constitution of 1978 declared Spain as a democratic state which was to be ruled by the law. Spain government is similar to parliamentary monarchy. All the political powers are vested with the Parliament.
The most outstanding feature of the government of Spain was the restoration of powers to the regions. The disputes between the regions were the prime reason for the political instability in the country. Still there were some vague features in the Constitution and as a result some distance still remained between the Centre and the state.

    Spain: Government Might Finance Mosques
Monday July 26, 2004 Under a 1979 agreement with the Vatican , Spain's government provides funds for Roman Catholic churches, a benefit now being considered for all religious groups. In particular, they are looking to fund mosques - partly for the sake of fairness and partly to discourage them from seeking funds from foreign extremist groups. The International Herald Tribune reports: Several experts in terrorism have warned recently about the threat posed by Wahhabi influence in Spain. Jess Nuez Villaverde, director of the Institute for the Study of Conflicts and Humanitarian Action, told Parliament two weeks ago that Spain had closed its eyes to the implications of Wahhabism as a doctrine, which I insist is fundamentalist, which violates human rights. Despite Spain's history of giving financial support to the Catholic Church, it is by no means clear that the constitution permits state financing of religion, according to legal experts. ... The funding of the Catholic Church has sidestepped

Spain Government Government type: parliamentary monarchy Definition: This entry gives the basic form of government. Definitions of the major governmental terms are as follows. (Note that for some countries more than one definition applies.):
Absolute monarchy - a form of government where the monarch rules unhindered, i.e., without any laws, constitution, or legally organized oposition.
Anarchy - a condition of lawlessness or political disorder brought about by the absence of governmental authority.
Authoritarian - a form of government in which state authority is imposed onto many aspects of citizens' lives.
Commonwealth - a nation, state, or other political entity founded on law and united by a compact of the people for the common good.

Confederacy (Confederation) - a union by compact or treaty between states, provinces, or territories, that creates a central government with limited powers; the constituent entities retain supreme authority over all matters except those delegated to the central government.
