Aug 13, 2009 "Contribute content like this. Start Here Spelling is a very important subject for students to learn. They will use spelling everyday in their lives. Here are some fun activities to incorporate into your lesson plans to make spelling fun.
A great game to play is called spell the word correctly. Give each of your students a small chalkboard and some chalk. Then say a word out loud and have them spell the word on their chalkboard. Then they must hold it over their head in your direction. The first person to correctly spell the word and hold it over their head gets a point. After you have went through twenty words the person with the most points wins the game. For younger students you can use easier words however for older students you can use some difficult words.
Another great game is called which is the correct spelling. Split your students up into teams. Give them cards that you made the night before with different spellings of the same word. When you yell go they must try and figure out which spelling is the correct one for each of the cards. Once they figure it out they circle that

    About the Concept: The sound /k/ is usually spelled with the letter c (as in cat k (as in kitten ), or c k (as in duck ). But the sound /k/ can also be spelled with the letters c h . Although students may be familiar with the sound that the letters c h represent in words like chop teacher , and peach , they may not be accustomed to using the letters c-h to represent the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words like Christmas echo , and stomach . The song, There Is No K In Christmas familiarizes students with many words and spelling patterns where the sound of /k/ is represented by the letters c h . Since many words with this spelling pattern are scientific or technical in nature, the song also serves to expand reading and writing vocabulary. When teaching spelling patterns like the variant

    Using the weekly guide for creating a homeschool spelling lesson plan, your child will learn ten or twenty words per week easily. By repetition and regular usage of the words, they will become a real part of your homeschool
    Choosing a Spelling List for Your Homeschool Child
    The spelling spelling lists based on grade online or in various books. You can also come up with your own spelling list based on the subject or unit study you will be covering in a particular week.
    Monday Spelling Lesson Plan
