For the most part, spiders are harmless and generally beneficial by keeping the insect populations in check. Spiders are seldom aggressive and bite only when threatened or injured. Few spiders bite people and the venom of most is harmless. However, the bite of the hobo spider black widow and the brown recluse (also known as the Recluse or Fiddle Back) can be quite dangerous. Spider di David Cronenberg Interpreti: Ralph Fiennes, Gabriel Byrne, Miranda Richardson, Lynn Redgrave, John Neville Canada, 2002, 99 min. Londra, ai nostri giorni. Davis appena dimesso dal manicomio, si reca in una squallida pensione. Comincia poi una peregrinazione per il quartiere dove lui aveva abitato che si trasforma in un viaggio nel ricordo. Soprannominato in quel modo dalla madre perch� intrecciava con le corde figura che ricordavano le ragnatele, rimane traumatizzato da un avvenimento , il padre avrebbe ucciso la madre per sostituirla con una prostituta. Realt�, allucinazione? Il film non da risposte. Il suo viaggio finisce dove era cominciato. Male accolto dalla critica italiana, adorato da quella francese, l�ultimo film di Cronemberg divide come sempre. Tratto da un racconto di Mc Grath apparentemente potrebbe sembrare lontano dalle sue tematiche, ma ad una riflessione pi� puntuale vi si pu� ritrovare il tema principe dell� universo cronemberghiano: il viaggio di un individuo all�interno della sua follia. L�ossessione principale dei film del regista quella per il sesso, appare nella sua evidenza. Sicuramente alla base della follia di Spider sta un complesso edipico mai risolto. Egli � molto attaccato alla madre e vederla che si bacia con il padre fa nascere in lui un forte senso di disgusto, che lo porta a fantasticare. Da quell�incubo non riuscir� pi� ad uscire. Lo spider adulto � il risultato di questo avvenimento. Nella prima magnifica sequenza, lo vediamo scendere dal treno con una valigia che poi vedremo contenere i pezzi della sua storia, una sveglia, delle corde. Appare dunque come un personaggio beckettiano, che arriva e ritorna da un non luogo, e che cammina parlando tra se in una squallida periferia londinese, che appare nella sua indefinitezza, ne campagna ,ne citt�. Luoghi-non luoghi, ibridi che si confanno molto bene al mondo del regista. Come non luogo � lo squallido albergo dove va a vivere, fatto di squallide stanze vuote dove Spider prosegue il suo monologo. Queste location ricordano molto le stanze tortura dei precedenti film, dove i personaggi sembrano inghiottiti dagli oggetti. E� qui dove si avverte maggiormente il senso di solitudine del protagonista quando in una magnifica scena ascolta da solo una straziante canzone di Natale.

Simmons MFG Rating: 4/5 Spider-Man swings into theaters as the first potential summer blockbuster for 2002. We have very little doubt that this movie will do huge business. It has little competition on opening weekend, and it is on a ton of screens. More importantly, we think it lives up to the hype and expectations. For those who have been under a rock and never picked up a comic book, here's the basic premise. Peter Parker is your typical unpopular high school geek. He's all brains, no brawn and totally unpopular. On a field trip, he gets bitten by a genetically altered super spider and ends up with spider-like super powers. The movie takes us through this origin, introducing all of the key characters in Spider-man and Peter Parker's life. As is often the case, it strays from the comic storyline here and there, but it doesn't screw up anything major. Following a trend started with Batman casting Michael Keaton, the casting here places importance on the actor's ability to play the secret identity alter-ego rather than their ability to play the super-hero. This makes sense as the special effects and suit take over in the action sequences, while the important part is building the character behind the mask. In the case of Spider-man, Tobey Maquire makes an absolutely excellent and believable Peter Parker.
